Last month, the NC legislature voted to put an Amendment on the May Primary ballot that would ban all state recognition of unmarried couples, with potentiall…

@GodsSonJasonJ Your incoherent attempt to preclude polygamy reveals the
general incoherence of the revisionist position. Marriage has not always
simply been between ‘two adults.’ It has always been between a man and a
woman. You make an argument from tradition, but you have already discarded
such arguments when they are made by people who hold the traditional view!
Do you not see the difficulty here?
You do realise that countries went by the bible for a good 1000 years
right? We called it the dark ages. Then in the 1500s, several people
decided “we wont take this shit anymore” rose up, put the bible on the back
burner, got attacked by zealots like yourself who believe bible first, a
couple hundred years of wars, millions dead, the bible followers lost to
the open scentific accepting christians who put it 2nd. If the bibles god
is real and isnt neutral, he isnt on the bibles side.
Funny how you picked 2 people who werent catholic and were doggedly anti
religious control of the state, lol.
@rextrek Remember which states are growing…and which are not.
Why not have an open debate on the issue?
So having a public forum where largely held beliefs are discussed equally
is a road to facism? Stopping the public debate of important social ideas
is an impediment to the progress and develop of our society, no matter
which side of the fence you sit on.
But why do you think that? Saying it makes you uncomfortable makes you a
bigot, and saying the Bible says it’s wrong is unconstitutional. Separation
of Church and State. Come on silly!
well Im avoiding NC like the plague of hate and bigotry it is
The democrats have really controlled the state of NC for well over 100
years. She always blames the republicans for the states woes.
you’ll never see my tourism money – ever
@GodsSonJasonJ If there is so much hurt among gay people, why do hardly any
actually get married in places where it is legal? Is this about meeting a
need? Or making a point?
hpd; I do not see difficulty here. It’s too hard to see any difficulty when
I see way too much hurt from families affected by marriage discrimination.
There are hundreds of thousands of children growing up in same gender
households where their parents cannot get the (over one thousand) federal
rights for having a civil marriage. No, I don’t see difficulty, I see hurt
and pain in my neighbors eye. Apparently you don’t, or don’t care to. God
bless you.
hpd929 I’m not exactly sure where you get your information/stats but same
gender families travel far and wide to get legally married where they can.
Many for the sake of their children. Bottom line discrimination is wrong
and does not promote equality among Americans. One of our very core values
as a nation is that we are ALL created, and treated equally under the law
no ifs, and or butts, excuses, long justifications, rationalizations, lies,
scare tactics, bullying, clauses or exceptions 🙂
It doesnt matter if the bble says or not, if people believe vote on it then
its constitutional
This to me is a non-issue. If you don’t agree with marriage equality, don’t
marry someone of the same sex! As a school teacher, I don’t ever recall
reading/citing the words…”with liberty and justice for ALL” and seeing
the word, “except”. Separate but equal does not, has not and should not
work. We can not “eenie meenie miney moe” through our neighborhoods and
point to who is allowed marriage or not. As a christian and American, I am
for equality, love, and acceptance for all human life.
When you debate about not giving minorities the same equal rights, you open
a slippery slop to fascism and 2nd class citizenry.
The bible and its biggest client (the pope) have nearly always been on the
wrong side of progress mate, history has shown this.
If said debate is about if the nation or state should give minority equal
rights yes, minority groups should always have equal rights.
Am I wrong, or are church and state not supposed to be separate? Don’t let
you single track Christian views get in the way of people’s happiness. They
just want the same right to receive benefits that a Christian marriage
would be given
@GodsSonJasonJ Are you for plural marriage? If not, why not?
The modern scientific and material progress of the western world is largely
a result of bible reading and believing individuals—Look into Issac Newton,
Francis Bacon, etc.. The list goes on. You can’t pigeonhole the bible and
religion like that. Its not just Catholics.
No, marriage has always been between two adults. Now, I certainly wouldn’t
use my time, energy and talents taking away rights if plural marriage was
for my neighbors. However personally (and from History, the Bible, etc)
marriage has always been between two people.
