People would oppose interracial marriage by comparing it to things like bestiality. Today, interracial marriage is allowed, and it hasn't harmed anyone that I've heard of. So there's still hope for same sex marriage. It is talked about because it is not viewed as socially acceptable. They say separate religion from government, but reason is it not allowed is because of religious views. What reasonable argument does the government have for not allowing it that doesn't derive from a religious one.
