A Documentary About Pete Buttigieg’s Presidential Campaign Is on Its Way

Mayor Pete has hit the campaign trail, and now he’s about to hit the big screen.

Story Syndicate, a new production company founded by documentarians Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan, is currently producing a doc on Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign, reports Axios.

Not much is known about the upcoming film, but reportedly crews have been filming at Buttigieg’s campaign events, including last week’s Democratic debate in Miami.

The Mayor Pete movie has not been bought by a streaming service or distributor, but according to sources, the doc’s future is “contingent on the outcome of Buttigieg’s campaign.”

Buttigieg is the latest politician to be the focus of a campaign trail documentary, following Knock Down the House, which trailed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and HBO’s Running With Beto.

The Buttigieg doc is just one of the productions Story Syndicate is currently working on, including HBO’s I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, based on best-selling true crime book about the Golden State Killer.

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and said I was “just the cutest thing ever.”
