  3. Regarding the "natural order of things" it is incredible hubris on the part of the church to think it can speak for God.
    You are always best served by thinking for yourself, I'm sure "God" appreciates it.
    (This is why I left organized religion, I'm sure the Bishop is a nice guy, but come on, the church is holding you back spiritually.)

    Catholic at the same time…. if a sorely tempted person habitually
    resists and rebukes perverted temptations then I would say that person
    is a saint ! yes. So give this a bit of thought. thats all it will
    take. be honest… that always helps. Do not identify oneself as a
    'gay'… that is a sin. But you, a hetero greivously tempted but never
    actually debasing yourself…. you are not committing any sin.

  9. Kind of speaking on the whole confession thing. In the past priests have actually been tortured and martyred for not breaking the seal of confession. So in some instances it has been actually quite unfortunate for the Catholic Church in that matter.

  10. The punishment awaiting homosexual activists…
    As soon as a homosexual activist dies, he finds himself in the midst of afterlife torments. Then, two angels of destruction comes to him; one of them grabs the homosexual's male organ, rips it apart, and throws it away. Next, the homosexual screams in agony, while asking the first angel: “Why are you doing this to me? Why do you leave me without a male organ?” To which the angel replies: “While alive, you lived as if you were a woman [who have no penis]. But now that you are dead [and therefore have no use for your male organ], you care about your penis? I'm just fulfilling your earthly lustful desires!”
    Then the second angel comes upon the homosexual, and violently snaps his spinal cord, twisting and pushing his backward so violently that the homosexual's face ends up inside his anus. Screaming in desperation, the homosexual asks: “Why is my body being re-shaped backward?”; to which the angel replies: “While alive, you never cared for your backward and violent ways. Now that you are dead, why should you care to remain straight?”; “But why am I being punished this way? Why should my head be inside my anus?”, asks the homosexual. To which the angel replies: “While still alive, you made sure to keep your anal lifestyle 'inside your head' (in other words, in all your thoughts). Now that you are dead, it is only fair that we make sure you keep your head inside your anus; just as you used to while still alive”.
    The homosexual activists will experience the same punishment day in and day out, until he finally recognizes the madness of his former sinful lifestyle. The day he finally recognizes it, he will be send back to Earth. And, in his new second life, he will be granted the chance to make amends for his former sins; waging war against gay, atheistic, and lesbian organizations, thereby saving from hellfire plenty of souls.

  13. I would like to perhaps "help out" bishop Barron on his answer to a few things. As far as the murderous penitent is concerned, I could imagine a priest saying, after hearing the confession and giving absolution to the murderous penitent…"Yes. the LORD in his radical and "lavish" mercy does pour out mercy upon you, but, an indisputable sign that you are contrite, and in order to fully understand and receive God's mercy, you must turn yourself in to face civil justice. Anything short of that would cause doubt in your true and complete contrition."
    As for the abortion question. I agree with the bishop on the centrality of the respect for life as a Christian. What I would say as far as a way to litigate abortion is that, yes the pregnant woman should go full term, but, the government should be responsible for supporting the mother and child in whatever the mother wants and needs. If the mother does not want the child, then the government is obligated to see to the care of that child and any psychological healing that the "raped" 16 year old may need. It can't be as simple as the government saying "no abortion" and "you are on your own" as to what to do with the child.
    Now, for the gay marriage issue. I think Dave did a good job of pressing the point with bishop Barron. But, what David didn't seem to be able to articulate is that as far as gay people are concerned, the fact that their sexual orientation is for same sex is not the same as falling short of the " high bar or ideal" that the Church sees as a full expression of the sexual act. Gay people might say that their homosexual sexual orientation has just as much potential to mirror sacrificial love as a heterosexual orientation has. Heterosexual and homosexual married couples are on equal standing in God's eyes, perhaps one could say. In other words, the act of sex between two married men or women, is not "intrinsically disordered." It is good and holy, just as is the heterosexual act between a man and a woman, one could say. The Church used to teach that usury was sinful/immoral…then came the Medici family and Medici papacy. Funny how that changed, isn't it?

What i enjoy in this kind of conversation is how you´re reminded that same-sex marriage may be legal, but in reality its just a namesake for the fact that civil partnership can be same-sex legally now, but thanks to religious freedom in the US, religious institutions can still be free as to how they conduct themselves. A cathelic bishop who actually takes time to make the argument is a welcome aspect in the public discourse if you ask me

  22. I'm not a Catholic, but I actually really like hearing Robert Barron's thoughts on things. That said, his stance on abortion reflects a deeply flawed understanding of the concept. If he were willing to come right out and say that he was in favor of indentured servitude (forced birth) instead of abortion it would at least be a more honest statement of his position.

  23. If a girl raped and is pregnant. She can have abortion before 3 months pregnancy , before soul come into the body of foetus.
    Gay marriage is not allow by any religions .
    Gay persons hurt themselves, because they end up with deep depression and disease or both. Homosexual person need treatment to find right sex, No way that looks man but act like a women or looks women and act like a man.

  26. Im sorry, i know im going to get lots to disagree with me but i dont care. The things of God are not up for opinion.

    1st. I am formerly gay and thanks to the father of our Lord Jesus Christ i am free.

    2ndly in order for one to be a child of God, a true child of God, one must 1ST repent from sin and believe in Christ and invite the Lord into his heart.

    3rd God does welcome everyone, and loves everyone but you cant just come to a holy God without that willingness to repent of ones sins, because it is sin in the first place that separates one from God. So we must make up our mind and let the sin and the world Go and allow the holy spirit to have his way with us.

    4th. The cathotlic church is not the authority of God on the earth, neither do we have to call anyone father other than God the father or a parent.
    5th the catholic church teaches its own things apart from scripture and considers their teaching and tradition equally authoritative as scripture which is in error.

    7th homosexuality is sin, if one wants to be a true child of God, we cannot deceive ourselves and say God will except me as a gay person because he is love, while it is true he is love, it is also true, he is holy, just, righteous, a God of order and rules, and he has a responsibility to judge all unrighteousness, he requires all men everywhere to REPENT, AND BELIEVE AND RECEIVE CHRIST AND THOSE WHO DONT REPENT AND BELIEVE AND RECIEVE CHRIST ARE CONDEMNED ALREADY, IN ORDER TO SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD ONE MUST BE BORN AGAIN, BUT BEING BORN AGAIN FROM ABOVE CAN NEVER HAPPEN IF A MIND IS ATTACHED TO SIN AND IS UNWILLING TO GIVE IT UP. LET GO OF YOUR SINS, LOVE TELLS THE TRUTH, AND TELLS U WHAT U NEED TO HEAR NOT WANT U WANT TO HEAR

  27. The child conceived in rape is an innocent bystander. There is great spiritual benefit in seeing that and trusting in God to make lemonade with the lemons of life.
    If a store owner gets robbed, should he shoot the next customer who happens to be there standing line to make himself feel better by avoiding the burden of having to serve him at a difficult time in his life? I bet you don't think so.

  28. In regards to porn, Ted Bundy gave an interview before his execution (it is on YouTube) and said that what got him started was finding porn about the age of 13, and it worsened. He was giving a warning.
