House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday clapped back at comments by President Trump, who had earlier in the day mocked her for showing off her home freezer stocked with ice cream during a recent television appearance.
“He makes a big fuss about my having ice cream in my freezer …” Pelosi said during an appearance on MSNBC on Tuesday afternoon.
“I have ice cream in my freezer,” she said. “I guess it’s better than having Lysol in somebody’s lungs as he’s suggesting.”

Her clap back took aim at Trump’s widely condemned remarks at a White House press conference on Thursday when he suggested that toxic disinfectants could be injected into the body as a potential coronavirus treatment.
“So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light — and I think you said that hasn’t been checked but you’re going to test it,” Trump said at the time. “And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside of the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that, too. Sounds interesting.”
“I see the disinfectant — where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?” he asked at the briefing.
Republicans have been attacking Pelosi for an appearance on CBS’s “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” where she showcased what was inside her freezer: Dove bars, Talenti gelato and a dozen small cartons of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream.
“The Democrats, they don’t want to come back, they don’t want to come back. I think they should be back here, but they don’t,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. “They’re enjoying their vacation… if you look at Nancy Pelosi eating ice cream on late night television. They’re having a good time.”
