Brooke Lynn Hytes Joins “Canada’s Drag Race” as Permanent Judge

Thailand, the U.K., and now our Neighbors to the North—RuPaul’s Drag Race is taking over the world!

Earlier this summer OUTtv, World of Wonder, Crave, and Blue Ant Studios announced that a Canadian version of the Emmy-winning competition series was headed our way. Today it was announced that Canadian queen—and Season 11 runner-up—Brooke Lynn Hytes will be a permanent judge on Canada’s Drag Race. Fellow Canadian cutie Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, and fashion icon Next Top Model mentor Stacey McKenzie will also be joining Brooke on the judges panel.

“Condragulations to my Canadians Queens!,” said Brooke. “I’m so excited as the time has finally come for the world to see the talent that Canada has to offer. Start those engines…and may the best Queen win!”

Canada’s Drag Race, which will consist of 10 one-hour episodes, will begin casting this summer and production in the fall. The series will air on Crave in Canada and on WOW Presents Plus around the rest of the world.

“I am beyond thrilled to be part of bringing this cultural phenomenon up north!” said Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. “I cannot wait to see what the upcoming legendary Canadian Queens are going to serve to bring the house down boots!!!”

“I am proud to announce that the Drag Race family is expanding as Crave is about to begin production on Drag Race Canada,” said RuPaul in a statement when the series was announced. “The panel and judges will be from the Great White North, representing Canada’s very best. This new franchise has my whole-hearted blessing. Good luck… and don’t puck it up!”

That’s an ice hockey pun! Get it?

Hosts and additional guest judges will be announced at a later date. We better see Carly Rae Jepsen sitting at that judges’ panel for an episode, and can we please get a Moira’s wigs-inspired Schitt’s Creek runway challenge?

The Canadian bacon puns write themselves.

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and said I was “just the cutest thing ever.”
