Cara Delevingne says that her character on the new Amazon Prime series Carnival Row is pansexual despite having an on-screen romance with a man.

The series takes place in a Victorian fantasy world that unites humans and creatures after the war.

The show stars Orlando Bloom as a human detective who falls in love with an immigrant fairy (Cara Delevingne).

When asked about her character’s sexuality on the show, the actress was quick to clarify that all fairies are generally pansexual.

She told Variety: “They don’t see gender. It’s all about who they are and their hearts. A lot of the things that weren’t written in the script, we made them so.

“Obviously, I didn’t say ‘I want to be a pansexual faerie,’ but it made sense that all faeries kind of just love who they love.”

Carnival Row premieres August 30 on Amazon Prime Video. The show touches on various topics including immigration, racism, and sexism.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim said: “Part of that world is a discussion… about racism and sexism and classism and spiritualism, and we kind of cover it all and we look at all the different ways you can differentiate the people and creatures in society, and it makes for a very layered complex show.”

Cara Delevingne on dating Ashley Benson

She said: “I also have another very special woman in this room to thank and you know who you are. She’s one of the people who helped me love myself when I needed it most and I really needed it. She showed me what real love is and showed me how to accept it, which was a lot harder than I thought. I love you, Sprinkles.”

The Pretty Little Liars star shared a clip of her girlfriend’s speech on her Instagram Story and added: “Love you @caradelevingne proud of you.”

The couple met on set when they co-starred in the 2018 movie Her Smell. They’ve been in a relationship for over a year. Delevingne told E! Online: “It is Pride, it’s been 50 years since Stonewall happened and I don’t know, it’s been just about our one year anniversary so, why not?”

A source told the outlet: “They are very sweet and loving together. They are always doing simple nice things for each other and it all comes very easy and naturally. They are committed to one another and very much in love.”
