The Walking Dead actor tweeted his idea to Marvel and Disney, tagging a handful of media outlets including , in his message.
“If Star-Lord is Bisexual now, then an Out Bisexual actor should be playing him!” he tweeted. “I SHOULD BE PLAYING HIM.”
Plus, he added with a silly face emoji, he looks “exactly like the character.”
Chris Pratt, the actor who currently plays Star-Lord in the movies, says he is an LGBTQ ally, but he attends an anti-LGBTQ church that refuses to hire gay people or “affirm a gay lifestyle.”
Fans quickly echoed Newman’s idea – including fellow actor Debra Messing and politico Jon Cooper.
My good friend @DanielNewman is totally right! If Star-Lord is bisexual now, then there’s no actor who’s better suited to play him! Daniel is an amazing actor, he’s openly bi, and he and Star-Lord almost look like twins! Let’s make this happen!! ❤️🎥🍿@Marvel @disneyplus https://t.co/6dEiYjDmfN
