Andi Mack aired its last ever episode last night (26 July) and fans are super emotional about it all.

Episode 20 of season three, entitled We Were Here, wrapped up the end of the series with a huge house party, sweet moments and plenty of emotional goodbyes.

It comes about after Disney announced in April it was canceling the hit-show, featuring groundbreaking LGBTI storylines.

In October 2017, character Cyrus (Joshua Rush) came out. It was a first for Disney.

In a later season, this time in February 2019, Cyrus said the words ‘I’m gay’ and it was another historical moment for the family-oriented network.

Warning! Andi Mack spoilers

In last night’s episode, Andi Mack (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) and her mom Bex (Lilan Bowden) threw a big house party while grandmother Celia (Lauren Tom) was away.

During the party, the cast get together to sing Lady Gaga’s hit-LGBTI anthem Born This Way.

Then, out-gay character Cyrus and TJ Kippen (Luke Mullen) share a sweet romantic moment on a bench outside.

The two characters begin firing questions to get to know each other.

TJ says: ‘Is there anything else you want to know?’ before reaching for Cyrus’ hand.

Cyrus replies: ‘Is there anything else you want to tell me?’

‘Yeah,’ he responds. ‘Is there anything you want to tell me?’ They then join hands and smile lovingly at each other and become a couple.

At the end of the episode, Andi Mack reveals she’s been accepted into a prestigious arts college wand she’ll have to move away.

The cast say their emotional goodbyes, as Andi lovingly says: ‘No matter where we go or what we do, we’re always going to be in each other’s lives.’

Andi Mack fans react

Fans of the show then began tweeting their love and support for the show’s emotional farewell.

One Twitter user wrote about the same-sex coupling scene: ‘This scene is going to be so important for so many kids growing up watching this right now. They’ll get to look back at this and think, “This show let me know that I would be okay.”‘

Another Twitter user wrote: ‘Andi Mack really is the best Disney show.’

While another tweeted: ‘Had Andi Mack existed when I was growing up, maybe I wouldn’t have hated myself like I did. Cyrus could’ve been my role model. Now it’s canceled and other kids are losing that chance too. I love it for what it did but wish it could’ve stayed to do more.’

The Disney show won and received nominations for numerous awards, including a Peabody. Over the course of its run, it also became Disney Channel’s most-watched series overall and the highest rated show among viewers 6-14.
