Police have charged a 26-year-old Florida man they say posted a threat on Facebook that he was about to have his semi-automatic rifle returned and people should stay away from Walmart.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Richard Clayton of Winter Park on Friday.
The agency said Clayton posted the threatening message on Sunday, the day after a gunman in El Paso, Texas, killed 22 people and injured two dozen at a Walmart.
“3 more days of probation left then I get my AR-15 back,” he posted. “Don’t go to Walmart next week.”
FDLE investigators said they believe that Clayton follows white supremacist ideology and has a history of posting threats to Facebook using fake accounts, reports The Miami Herald.
Clayton was charged with making written threats to kill or do bodily harm, NBC 6 reported.
He is being held at the Orange County Jail on $25,000 bond.
A department spokeswoman said Clayton was not on probation.
