A man wearing a “Running the World Since 1776″ t-shirt was caught on video throwing a temper-tantrum inside a Fort Myers, Florida, Costco store after an elderly woman asked him to wear a mask.

The incident is said to have taken place on June 27 but has just recently gone viral.

“Stay six feet away from me,” the elderly woman can be heard asking the man who was later identified by Twitter sleuths as Daniel Maples.

“You’re harassing me and my family,” Maples says.

“You’re harassing me. I feel threatened,” he screams at another man who had reportedly come to defend the elderly woman.

“Back off! Threaten me again. Back the f**k up put your f**king phone down,” Maples yells.

One of the customers targeted by the man later thanked Costco for their handling of the incident: “To give Costco the credit, they escorted him out and made me wait inside and monitored him until he left and then they send someone with me to the car to make sure I’m okay.”

Maples, who worked as an insurance agent at Ted Todd Insurance, was quickly fired by the company hours after his meltdown went viral.

The company confirmed in a tweet Tuesday afternoon that it had fired Maples.

“Thank you to everyone for their comments and messages raising awareness about a former employee at Ted Todd Insurance. Their behavior in the video is in direct conflict with our company values and their employment has been terminated,” the company said.

Charley Todd, the CEO of Ted Todd Insurance, said the former employee “absolutely does not represent our values and no longer works at our agency.”

Some Twitter users shared screenshots from the video which appears to show an object protruding from Maples’ waistband.

“Definitely appears to be a handgun printing through his shirt. Belly band holster,” wrote one Twitter user.
