London police arrested George Michael’s ex, Fadi Fawaz, on Tuesday (23 July) for allegedly ‘smashing up’ the late singer’s mansion.

According to reports, police were called to the late singer’s North London address on Tuesday evening. Neighbors had reported seeing Fawaz, 46, shirtless on the roof of the building.

‘Officers attended and the man was no longer on the roof but inside the address, which had extensive damage,’ a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.

‘Due to the damage inside the property the London Fire Brigade attended. The man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage. He has been taken into custody at a north London police station.’

The fire brigade arrived after police and reportedly helped clean up, including clearing ‘leaking water’.

How did it come to this?

Fawaz, a hair stylist, was Michael’s on-off partner for several years before Michael’s death on Christmas Day in 2016.

Recently, it was reported that Fawaz was completely absent from the singer’s will. Michael died with a fortune of £97.6m ($124.15m) to his name, none of which went to Fawaz.

Other reports indicate Fawaz has been squatting in Michael’s North London property since Michael died.

Since the singer’s death, Fawaz has been in several headlines. He deleted his Twitter after promising a ‘tell all’ on Michael’s death and more recently claimed Michael tried to stab himself 25 times in rehab.
