Republican Congressman Paul Gosar (AZ) on Monday tweeted out a photoshopped picture showing former President Barack Obama shaking hands with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
“The world is a better place without these guys in power,” Gosar tweeted to his followers without noting that the photo was a fake.

Reporters were quick to point out that the photo was, in fact, photoshopped.
“Of course, this is a fake photo. and Gosar is a sitting member of Congress,” Politico’s Jake Sherman tweeted minutes after Gosar tweeted the doctored photo.

The Washington Post’s Aaron Blake noted that the congressman tweeted out the “photoshopped image of Obama with Rouhani, apparently believing Rouhani is actually Soleimani. The actual image is of Obama and Indian PM Manmohan Singh.”

This Shop of Obama and Hassan Rouhani, the president of Iran, is funny because:
1) That’s not Soleimani, it’s a different guy
2) They never met, but spoke on the phone one time
3) Trump has actual photos like this with the non-elected dictator of the DPRK
4) Gosar is in Congress https://t.co/gVwkOTxbM6— Charlie J. Johnson (@Charliemagne) January 6, 2020
In response to the backlash, Gosar tweeted: “To the dim witted reporters like @dmedin11: no one said this wasn’t photoshopped. No one said the president of Iran was dead. No one said Obama met with Rouhani in person. The tweet says: ‘the world is a better place without either of them in power’. ”
A congressman posted a photoshopped picture of Obama shaking hands with Rouhani (which didn’t happen), posted it, and his defense is “no one said this wasn’t photoshopped.”
You heard it here first, folks. Unless he says otherwise, assume everything Gosar says is a lie. https://t.co/5FLUp76pis

Paul Gosar (whose last name sounds like the villain from “Ghostbusters”) is tweeting fake photos of Obama to rile up the rubes.
