President Donald Trump on Monday congratulated Poland on the 80th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s invasion of the country in 1939 and the outbreak of World War Two.
Do you have a message for Poland on the 80th anniversary of World War Two,” a White House reporter asked Trump.
“I do have a great message for Poland,” Trump replied. “and we have Mike Pence, our vice president, is just about landing right now… I just want to congratulate Poland.”
September 1, 1939 marks the outbreak of World War Two, and the start of five years of Nazi occupation of Poland that led to the deaths of six million Polish citizens.

The remark left many Twitter users asking: “Congratulate Poland for being invaded by Germany?”
Congratulating Poland in the 80th Anniversary of WW2? What’s next, congratulating Japan on the anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings???#DerangedDonald #DementiaDonald #25thAmendmentNow #FuckingMORON pic.twitter.com/jIjvHWKYbu

Congratulate Poland for being invaded by Germany? What is wrong with this man? Needs a mental health screen ASAP!

Great. The @POTUS, @realDonaldTrump, just actually *congratulated* Poland (“a great message”!) for being invaded by the Nazis in 1939.
From the rest of us: #Poland, we remember your suffering and honor your strength. ❤️?? (And we’re very sorry for the Cheeto’s choice of words.) https://t.co/jXGwvsKg7u

No idea whatsoever. Trump has no idea that Poland was invaded brutally by Hitler and Stalin together. If he thinks about it, he imagines that Russia must have sent them beautiful Faberge eggs, and Germany marzipan candies. https://t.co/yZKPBqahYf
