President Trump on Saturday released a new video on Twitter in an attempt to reassure the country and the world about his health condition.
In the 4-minute video, Trump said he was “feeling much better now” before launching into a rant about why he could not remain locked up in the White House.
“I had no choice because I didn’t want to stay in the White House, I was given that alternative, stay in the White House, lock yourself in, don’t ever leave, don’t even go to the Oval Office,” Trump said.
“Just stay upstairs and enjoy it. Don’t see people. Don’t talk to people and just be done with it,” Trump added.
“And I can’t do that,” he said. “I had to be out front. And this is America. This is the United States. This is the greatest country in the world. This is the most powerful country in the world. I can’t be locked up in a room upstairs and totally safe and just say, whatever happens, happens. I can’t do that. We have to confront problems, there has never been a great leader that would have done that. So that’s where it is.”
It is still unclear when or where the video was filmed.

Earlier in the day, the New York Times quoted White House chief of staff Mark Meadows as having said: “The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.”
That report directly contradicted the picture painted by the White House physician, Navy Commander Dr. Sean Conley, who said Trump was in good spirits — so good, apparently, he had been fever-free for 24 hours, and felt he could have walked out of Walter Reed today.
Axios also reported on Saturday that they had learned on Friday from well-placed sources that the president had experienced a fever and was worse than the White House was letting on.
CNN’s Jim Acosta on Friday reported that the president had experienced some trouble breathing before he was flown to Walter Reed Medical Center.
