Janet Jackson Redoes “Runaway” With Classroom Instruments on “Fallon”

[ad_1]

In the hallowed pantheon of Janet Jackson songs, “Runaway” ranks fairly high. We’re not talking “Together Again,” or “When I Think of You,” or its close cousin “Escapade” high. Those are just pop perfection. “Runaway” is more like bop perfection, and as such, it was a delightful fit for The Tonight Show’s classroom musical instruments bit.

Ms. Jackson joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots to tinker away with the 1995 hit, the lead single from the icon’s first greatest hits collection, Design of a Decade.

For whatever reason, someone gave Fallon scarves and he’s having a lot of fun with them—too much fun, some would say. But hey, it’s “Runaway.” We’re all supposed to, as Janet says, “have a good time.”
