  1. Anyone who's spent time around drunks will tell you Judy was pretty well loaded in this interview. Her mother and others controlling her must've been very proud of what they took from the future of a little girl…

  2. You know what’s tough.. being a garbage man or a nursing home attendant.. her ass was kissed and all she did was bitch.. leave the industry if it’s so bad

  3. THE TITLE OF THIS VIDEO IS AN ABSOLUTE SHAM LIE! NOWHERE in this video does Ms. Garland suggest that SHE HERSELF is 'a homosexual' – NOWHERE! As a matter of fact, she says of the SCHMUCK who wrote that NONSENSE that 'SHE WAS A FELLA"! Do NOT be duped by this ridiculous choice of MISLEADING WORDING IN THIS VIDEO TITLE! Judy Garland is CLEARLY HETEROSEXUAL & QUITE FOND OF BEING A NORMAL-MINDED MOTHER WHO LOVES AND NURTURES HER NATURAL SON AND DAUGHTER IN NATURAL WAYS!

  4. i don't know that she was even 'defending'. She was more 'deflecting' the question. Which at that time would of ended her career if she said "Gay is OK, and I love gay men!"

  5. She cares so much for her fans. I would of gave back to her in a second she gave so much to those who were around back then as I couldn't of I only was born 20 years after she left this world

  6. No, actually, she defended her AUDIENCE. When she says she'll not have her audience mistreated she is referring to not having her audience labeled. She quite obviously was irritated with the writer for what they wrote.

  7. So much sympathy for Judy in this interview. For those who think they know everything… it was 1967, get an effing grip. She had been screwed her entire life by vultures and was broke, do you think she was going to alienate even more people by coming out for gays in 1967?! Hell, most gays didn't come out for them damn selves!

  8. the title of this video say she defends gay people.    what?   It does not sound like she is defending gays at all !!      It sounds like she did not want them in her  audience.       By  the way,   her father was gay,  and she had two husbands that were gay.     and God knows how many gay friends she had being in show business.

  9. Everyone saying she looks old due to drugs, but I don't think it's that. I know many drinkers and drug users and they don't age any faster than non using folks. I think first thing to age you and kill you or make you ill is the tremendous amount of stress.

  10. I'm sorry; but, she is not defending Homosexuals in this interview. She defends her 'audiences' as being more than Homosexuals. In fact, she tries to distance her audience from that term. At this point in American history, Homosexuals were very vilified.

  11. why are gay icons being CONSTANTLY asked about this ONE demographic in their audience
who asks Guns & Roses CONSTANTLY why their audience were mainly teenage straight men? Or Sinatra why he was loved by straight women AND straight men?
These gay icons are straight women why would they know?
but if Shirley Bassey answered "how the fuck should I know??" there's be an outcry
    it must be so boring
I don't think I've ever seen a Bassey interview where she hasn't been asked about gay men

  12. The title totally skewed the conversation judy never said gays were in her audience or did she have to defend them,
A transsexual reporter , gave judy some crap because the person was jealous.
    Thats what I heard.

  13. She was high as a kite…I would too with all the garbage they did to her…so sad it breaks my heart to see the great Judy Garland look like a dirty low life street bum!! I wish she was given more in life

  14. It's obvious there is a lot more being read into this than is actually there. When you have an agenda to force I suppose a bit of truth stretching is fine these days.

  15. As a gay man, I don't find much of a defense here. She's making a point that her audience is diverse and even takes a swipe at a lesbian reporter. It does not matter. Garland connected with gay men because of the power and authentic emotion of her performances. She was to marry a couple gay fellows in her lifetime. You could argue she was attracted to gay men( her father was gay).
