Kanye West delivered a rambling speech at his first campaign rally in South Carolina on Sunday night, which left many in the crowd groaning as the rapper made such false statements as “Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people.”
On Twitter, someone wrote that they immediately left after West, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, made the deeply offensive statement.
Twitter user “Toe Knee” wrote: “Kanye said this and I left immediately. I went for a laugh and I got one. But when it got disrespectful for me it was over.”

You can also hear the person recording the video and saying that they’re “leaving right now” right after West made the statement.
In another bizarre moment, West shared a story about how he and wife Kim Kardashian West almost had an abortion, which is when he grew emotional about his past and his father.
Hysterically crying on stage, the stunned crowd offer applause and positive messages to West in an attempt to calm him.

At one point, West had someone thrown out of the event for heckling him.
According to ABC News, all attendees were asked to sign a COVID-19 liability release form, social distance and wear a mask.
At one point, West said, “I don’t give a f–k if I win the presidency or not,” seeming to confirm some suspicions that the Trump supporter is only running to take some African-American votes away from Joe Biden.
Kanye was ruthlessly mocked online for his off-the-rails campaign event:

I did more than free my people from bondage personally. I am also the first woman to lead an armed assault during the Civil War.
You are, because I did.

Kanye West just said Harriet Tubman never actually freed slaves, she had them work for other white people.
