Kenosha Mayor Rips Trump’s ‘Completely False’ Claim That Protesters Tried To Break Into His House

Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian pushed back against a “completely false” claim President Donald Trump made shortly before his arrival in Kenosha on Tuesday, a city still reeling from a police shooting that last week left a Black man paralyzed and led to two fatal shootings in which an armed white teen has been charged.

Trump falsely told reporters at Joint Base Andrews before stepping aboard Air Force One that “radical anarchists were trying to get into the mayor’s house,” referring to a protest outside Antaramian’s house that Trump had watched on television.

“I saw last night where these radical anarchists were trying to get into the mayor’s house and lots of bad things were happening to this poor, stupid, very foolish mayor,” Trump said. “How he could be mayor I have no idea, but all he has to do is call and within 10 minutes their problem will be over. As you know, they have to call us. They have to call and request help.”

Antaramian slammed Trump’s lies in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

“I want to dispel the President’s statement that angry mobs were trying to get into my house last night,” Antaramian said. “Nothing of the sort happened. The statement in the President’s video is completely false.”

“The city of Kenosha remains peaceful and focused on healing our community,” Antaramian added.

Trump also told reporters that Kenosha “would have been burned to the ground by now” if not for the intervention of the National Guard. “It all stopped immediately upon the National Guard’s arrival.” Then he attacked Democratic Mayor John Antaramian, referencing a protest outside his house that Trump had watched on television.
