Lara Trump Mocks Biden’s Speech Impediment At ‘Women for Trump’ Event

President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, criticized the Democrats for having former Vice President Joe Biden as their frontrunner and mocked his speech impediment.

“Every time he comes on stage and they turn to him, I’m like, Joe can you get it out, let’s get the words out, Joe,” Lara said during a “Women for Trump” event in Iowa this Thursday. “You kinda feel bad for him.”

According to Lara, who is married to the president’s son, Eric Trump, Biden’s frontrunner status is a result of the Democrats being “desperate” because they know none of their candidates can beat Trump in the 2020 election.

“That is why they have tried since the day he came down the escalator to stop Donald Trump,” Lara said, referencing the moment in June 2015 when her father-in-law descended the Trump Tower escalator to announce his candidacy.

According to Newsweek: “As a child, Biden had a stutter and during the Detroit debate in July, the stutter was noticeable as he discussed his plan for health care. Biden described struggling with his stutter as a child and into his teen years to The Atlantic, reciting poetry in his bedroom in an attempt to overcome it. When writer John Hendrickson, who also stutters, mentioned he noticed the former vice president appears to have a ‘little trouble’ with the letter ‘r,’ Biden said he hadn’t thought he had problems.”

“But I-I-I-I don’t doubt there’s probably ways people could pick up that there’s something,” he told The Atlantic. “But I don’t consciously think of it anymore.”

This isn’t the first time Biden’s been targeted for his public speaking.

In December, former press secretary Sarah Sanders mocked Biden’s stuttering in a tweet.

After facing massive backlash for her tweet, Sanders claimed she wasn’t trying to make fun of anyone with a speech impediment and was trying to convey the message that she couldn’t follow “much of anything Biden is talking about.”

“I’ve worked my whole life to overcome a stutter. And it’s my great honor to mentor kids who have experienced the same,” Biden responded on Twitter to Sanders’ tweet “It’s called empathy. Look it up.”

Sanders deleted the tweet and apologized, saying she wasn’t aware Biden had struggled with stuttering as a kid.
