LGBTQ couple Kiera Hogan and Diamante make history with WOW title win

WOW Women of Wrestling’s return to the airwaves has been a refreshing addition to the pro wrestling television landscape in 2019. The all women’s promotion has showcased number of talented grapplers throughout the year, delivering memorable moments along the way.

So, it should come as no surprise that its two-part season two finale on Saturday night provided another milestone. Out wrestlers and partners Kiera Hogan and Diamante, wrestling as Fire and Adrenaline respectively, became the first LGBTQ couple to capture tag team gold together.

The victory came courtesy of a shock pinfall as Fire rolled up Hazard of the Monsters of Madness after a hard-hitting affair. The two romantic partners celebrated with their newly won titles as confetti rained down on the ring.

Out LGBTQ couples teaming together in the ring is still a relatively new sight. Killian McMurphy and AEW’s Sonny Kiss remain one of the only other examples within American pro wrestling.

The explosive couple’s in-ring celebration might’ve been cut short by a pair of new challengers in the show’s closing moments, but the party didn’t stop beyond the ring.

The couple will have plenty of time to savor the victory ahead of their first title defense while fans wait for a formal announcement of WOW Women of Wrestling’s season three premiere date on AXS TV.
