Lindsay Lohan Is Plotting Her Musical Comeback With “Xanax”

Once upon a time, we reported that Lindsay Lohan was hard at work on a new album, her long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s Speak and 2005’s A Little More Personal (Raw). Three years, one Mean Girls musical, and an abandoned Mykonos beach house later, we still don’t have a record, but we may have the first taste of what could be her brand-new single.

This week, DJ Kris Fade, of Virgin Radio Dubai, unveiled an exclusive snippet of “Xanax,” an upcoming song from LiLo that he boasted hadn’t been shared with anyone else.

“You know, with Lindsay, when she hits the studio you’re not sure what’s gonna come out,” said the host (don’t hold back, Kris), but he was quick to add, “It’s unbelievable. I really do like it… It’s a really good song.”

So, the real tea? Well, we’ve heard only 30 seconds of it, but it’s certainly not not good.

“But you’re like Xanax to me / When you kiss me I can’t breathe,” the former host of Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club coos over a throbbing bassline, jaunty finger snaps, and some mildly haunting backing vocals that instantly call to mind Alice Deejay’s late-’90s club staple “Better Off Alone.”

LiLo continues, “I try / To stay away from you but you get me high / Only person in this town that I like / Guess I can take one more trip for the night.”

The song, which Fade said is “about anxiety and pressure and just taking care of yourself,” would be Lohan’s first new single since her very important gay anthem “Bossy,” which she dropped allll the way back in May of 2008. For perspective, Lady Gaga hadn’t even released “Just Dance” yet.

Lohan, who’s been living in Dubai but also serving as a judge on The Masked Singer Australia, is apparently real chummy with this DJ dude, so there’s a good chance he’ll be revealing the rest of the song in the coming weeks.

Perhaps we can expect to hear it in full on October 3.
