You can’t outrun your sins, Matt Bomer!

USA Network has released an intense first trailer for its upcoming third season of The Sinner. The crime drama stars Bomer as Jamie, a schoolteacher and “local family man” recovering from a fatal car accident. “Death isn’t going away,” he says in the preview. “It’s getting closer.”

The Sinner, executive-produced by Jessica Biel, also stars Bill Pullman, who reprises his role as damaged Detective Harry Ambrose from the first two seasons. The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina also stars as Nick, Jamie’s creepy old college friend.

According to an official synopsis, this season will follow Ambrose as “he begins a routine investigation of a tragic car accident” but soon “uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.”

Bomer, who headlined USA’s White Collar for six seasons, earned an Emmy nomination and Golden Globe Award for his performance in HBO’s The Normal Heart. The 42-year-old Doom Patrol star will reprise his role as news anchor McCoy Whitman, Will’s love interest, on the final season of Will & Grace.

The Magic Mike hunk made his Broadway debut last year in the 50th anniversary production of the groundbreaking gay drama The Boys in the Band, which producer Ryan Murphy is adapting for Netflix.

The new season of The Sinner will premiere in 2020.
