“The View” co-host Meghan McCain took to Twitter Tuesday to claim that her neighborhood in Manhattan was “eviscerated” by protesters and left looking “like a war zone.”

“My neighborhood in Manhattan is eviscerated and looks like a war zone,” McCain tweeted. “DeBlasio and Cuomo are an utter disgrace. This is not America. Our leaders have abandoned us and continue to let great American cities burn to the ground and be destroyed. I never could have fathomed this.”

“Full Frontal” chief writer Kristen Bartlett, who lives in McCain’s same building, fact-checked the TV host a few hours later.

“Meghan, we live in the same building, and I just walked outside. It’s fine,” Bartlett tweeted.

Another neighbor confirmed Bartlett’s survey of the neighborhood, writing: “Meghan, I also live in the same building and went for a walk both yesterday and this morning and it’s fine.”

Bartlett’s response went viral and as one Twitter users noted: “Behind every viral Meghan McCain tweet is a tweet with 10 times the likes making fun of it.”

“Thank you for shutting down her lies,” another tweeted. “To read McCain’s tweet, it sounds like she’s describing London after the blitz. Manhattan is standing and very much not on fire. I’ve had it with these GOP apologists.”
