President Donald Trump on Monday argued against counting every vote cast in the 2020 presidential election, in a disturbingly anti-Democratic tweet that was deemed “misleading” by Twitter.
While traveling from a campaign rally in Pennsylvania to the swearing-in of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, Trump took to Twitter to suggest that the incomplete vote total reached at the end of election day should be declared the final result.
“Big problems and discrepancies with Mail In Ballots all over the USA,” Trump falsely claimed.
“Must have final total on November 3rd,” Trump demanded.
The comments were a continuation of Trump’s efforts to discredit the legitimacy of the election as he trails Joe Biden in the polls.

Twitter quickly muted Trump’s tweet and displayed the following warning to Twitter users: “Some or all of the content shared in this Tweet is disputed and might be misleading about how to participate in an election or another civic process. Learn more.”
It also added in bold red text: “Learn how voting by mail is safe and secure.”
Trump’s remarks were immediately condemned online as anti-Democratic and a fascistic attack on the U.S. Constitution.
