‘My Law Degree Says’ Exposing Whistleblower Is A Crime

Donald Trump Jr. on Thursday defended his decision to out the name of the alleged whistleblower who sparked the House impeachment probe against his father, arguing that his Tweet was “not a federal crime.”

“I think the reality of the answer is the whistle-blower’s name was on a little website called the Drudge Report a couple of days ago. I literally quote tweeted an article that had the guy’s name in the title of the article,” Trump Jr. argued.

“Kimberly, you’re a lawyer, and we’ve known each other. You were a former prosecutor. I mean, did you advise your boyfriend that it is a federal crime to out a whistleblower?” ABC’s ‘The View’ host Sunny Hostin asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump Jr.’s girlfriend, who was also on the Thursday episode of the show.

Trump Jr. cut in and told Hostin, “It’s not a federal crime. It’s only a federal crime for the IG to do it.”

“That’s not true. That’s a lie,” the host said, adding, “my law degree says it is.”

Trump Jr. tweeted an article Wednesday that contained the purported name of the anonymous government whistleblower who set off the investigation into whether the White House attempted to pressure Ukrainian officials into probing the president’s political rival, Joe Biden, and his son, Hunter Biden.

The president’s son said he did not regret tweeting out the name despite significant backlash from the media
