President Donald Trump on Sunday night lashed out at CBS News reporter Weijia Jiang after she questioned the president about his administration’s slow response to the coronavirus crisis.
“Who are you with? Who are you with?” Trump repeatedly interrupted Weijia while she asked her question.
“Weijia Jiang with CBS News,” she told the president after finishing her question.
“So, if you look at what I did in terms of cutting off or banning China from coming in,” Trump began.
“Chinese nationals – but by the way, not Americans who are also coming from China,” Weijia cut-in to fact-check Trump.
“Nice and easy. Nice and easy. Just relax,” Trump instructed Weijia.
“We cut it off. People were amazed,” Trump said. “These gentlemen. Everybody was amazed that I did it. We had 21 people in a room. Everybody was against it but me. Dr. Fauci said had I not done that, perhaps tens of thousands and maybe much more than that – people would have died. I was very early, very, very early. And we just saw, you saw Bret Baier making a statement. They had a debate well into February and not even mention — it wasn’t mentioned, the Democrats, we were very early. I’m the president, and you know what I just did?”
After another back-and-forth, Trump snapped at Weijia, ordering her to: “Keep your voice down!”
He later told her that she should be telling him: “Thank you very much for good judgment.”
