The second queen to leave RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has joined the Extinction Rebellion demonstrators in London to protest climate change.

Scaredy Kat, who at 20 was the youngest queen to ever appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race, was pictured posing for photos and talking to activists, who are camped out in central London as part of a two-week demonstration against climate catastrophe.

Scaredy Kat, who is a vegan, spoke to an animal rights group at the Extinction Rebellion protest in Trafalgar Square.

“Basically, the world is going to shit. And we need to do something about it right now. There’s proof in history that the only way to make change happen is by standing up and fighting for it and that is exactly what we are here to do,” she said.

The drag queen caused a stir and birthed a meme by identifying as something other than a gay man on RuPaul’s show, which predominantly features cis gay men – Scaredy Kat has a girlfriend and has been labelled a bisexual man.

Early on, Scaredy announced that she had a girlfriend – a bio queen named Pussy Kat – and that her sexuality isn’t based around a gender.

“I wouldn’t really call it bi,” she said. “I just go out with anyone I fall in love with really. But honestly, my sexuality is my girlfriend – I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else.”

And her sashay away from the show after just two episodes has already become an iconic meme, after she said, “I think I’ve proven that, you know, you don’t have to be gay to do this.”

In an exclusive PinkNews interview on 11 October, Scaredy Kate was asked about posting about Extinction Rebellions protests online – and what she would say to people who think the groups methods are “a bit extreme”.

“I think you’ve got to go for it,” she said. “We’re living on this planet and it’s going to sh*t and we’ve got to do something about it. And we’ve got to do it now. If you’re not listening to that, you’re crazy.”
