Given the week’s events in Washington, I feel it’s appropriate to say we are all winners for having survived the experience, and to use “losers” to describe those screaming “censorship!” and claiming First Amendment rights have been violated by social media tech giants, for banning the president and thousands of followers of dangerous conspiracy theorist accounts. That’s my stance, and you’re welcome to yours.
Without further adieu, here’s this week’s list beginning with all the losers.
It was already going to be a historic day. It turned out to be one of infamy and tragedy as well.
Two days after Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda was discharged from a hospital in Orange County, Calif., he died at his home in Fullerton, Calif. His only son, Tom Jr., died of complications related to AIDS in 1991. Until it can be shown that he accepted the fact his son was gay and what ended his life at age 33, the iconic legacy Lasorda leaves behind is forever tainted.
Sowers became the first out LGBTQ coach in NFL history in 2017. Outsports named her our Person of the Year in 2020.
The Browns’ interim coach was suspended in 2014 after admitting to an anti-gay remark.
DJ Slifer and Scottie Winer met over two years ago and will now be planning their future wedding and life together.
