This Morning’s Sports Headlines:
All this week, Outsports is sharing stories of transgender women who are rugby athletes in stories, podcast episodes and on our social media platforms. We’ll also tell you about allies who, like Outsports, support International Gay Rugby’s rejection of a proposal to ban non-binary and transgender women athletes from competing in women’s rugby competitions.
Our Alex Reimer has the story of Isabella MacBeth, who plays for a female rugby club in South Carolina, credits rugby with helping her through the toughest moments of her transition.
I’ve written a story today about rugby clubs in Chicago, the Rocky Mountain region, the UK and Denmark standing in support of trans women and non-binary rugby players.
And there’s much more to come.
Also this morning: Emma Gee, the only out athlete at BYU, found out she wasn’t alone after all. She told her Being Out story to Outsports co-founder Jim Buzinski.
And in other news…
Dana White is back in the headlines, and this time it’s not to promote his Covid-free island for MMA fighting, or about apologizing for anti-gay slurs. Yahoo Sports reports the UFC president is once again stumping for Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention. It’s not his first cage match; White spoke at the RNC in 2016 as well.
The winner of the Indianapolis 500, according to ESPN’s Ryan McGee, was once again, the year 2020. Check out the flap over the yellow flag.
Roger Goodell had An Uncomfortable Conversation With A Black Man. Host Emmanuel Acho asked the NFL commissioner what he would say to Colin Kaepernick if he were to publicly apologize to the former 49ers quarterback. Watch the video by clicking here.
And USA Today has a roundup of how the late great Kobe Bryant was remembered on what would have been his 42nd birthday.

Thom Brennaman is still on the minds of many. Our friend LGBTQ youth advocate and educator Micah Porter penned this thoughtful open letter to the suspended sports announcer:
Bisexual sports TV broadcaster Evan Davis bared his feelings about Brennaman’s slur on the Three Swings podcast with Rhea Butcher.
Another perspective on the topic of “The ‘F’ Word,” which we are proud to share, is from The GAMEDAY TEA podcast, and its host, DGil.
We are inspired today by gay runner Michael Morrow of New Jersey and his loyal dog, Lola.
Finally, it has nothing to do with LGBT, but ya gotta see how this Canucks player expresses his, um, dissatisfaction. Incidentally, the Las Vegas Golden Knights blew out Vancouver 5-0.
