President Trump on Tuesday renewed his attacks on House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), suggesting the California Democrat would be punished severely for his characterization of the president’s Ukraine transcript if he lived in Guatemala.
Shortly after releasing a scathing six-page impeachment protest letter attacking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Trump voiced his displeasure with the proceedings in person while meeting with Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales at the White House.
Trump declared the House’s impeachment proceedings a “total sham” and accused Schiff of falsely attributing a statement to him. He then complained about how “House immunity” protected the congressman from prosecution.
“When you have a guy like Shifty Schiff go out and make up a statement that I made, he said, this is what he said but I never said it,” Trump ranted. “He totally made it up.”
“In Guatemala they handle things…much tougher than that,” Trump said with Morales seated beside him.
It’s not exactly clear what Trump was implying with the comment — or how much he knows about Guatemala’s judicial system.

Trump just said he wants to handle Schiff the way they would “in Guatemala” and I’m not sure what that means but I think a lot of people will take it as a reference to execution

President Trump in September suggested that Schiff should be arrested for treason, a crime punishable by death or prison time.
