This is what landed gay pro wrestler Anthony Bowens in the hospital

Out indie wrestler Anthony Bowens is back home after giving his fans a bit of a scare last weekend. After not being able to make a scheduled Wrestlepro show appearance on Saturday night, the Youtube star took to his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Sunday and posted a picture of himself lying in a hospital bed to explain his absence.

Flashing a smile and thumbs up that belied the IV attached to his arm, Bowens wrote that he had been dealing with an unspecified “medical complication” throughout the previous week. Summing up his ordeal, Bowens asserted that his workload had “led to me overlooking putting my health first and it finally caught up to me.”

Bowens told Outsports Monday that he had let his “schedule and training get the best of me to the point where I wasn’t watching my water intake and I was severely dehydrated.”

On Saturday, Bowens was scheduled for a match in Wrestlepro’s Return to Rahway independent show in New Jersey. His image was prominently featured on the event’s poster art and his name was billed above the title. As he looked back on his week from his hospital bed, Bowens lamented that his cancelled appearance was “probably the biggest match of my career.”

Promising to remain positive through his ordeal, Bowens vowed that he would both return to wrestling action and produce more content on his Youtube channel soon.

Wrestling as the babyface “5-Tool Player,” Bowens maintains a channel dedicated to his matches as well as a popular entertainment vlog with boyfriend Michael Pavano.

It appears Bowens’s sixth tool is that he’s a quick healer.

Fans are expressing hope he’s able to get back into the ring as soon as possible. One mom whose son is a fan reached out via Twitter to send their best wishes, and Bowens replied Monday afternoon, telling her, “I’ll be ok!”

“I work too hard sometimes, haha!” Bowens told Outsports.
