Three people were stabbed inside a gay bar in Washington DC on Sunday morning (16 June), according to DC police.

Two suspects and the victims ‘were engaged in a verabl dispute,’ police say,’ inside the Fireplace in Dupont Circle.

However, this attack occurred on the same night three people attacked a gay just two minutes after the stabbing.

What happened?

According to the police press release, one suspect brandished a knifed and stabbed the three victims; all required treatment for non-life threatening injuries as a result.

The Washington Blade reported that Lieutenant Brett Parson, of the Metropolitan Police Department LGBT Liaison Unit, confirmed the stabbings took place on the second floor of the bar on P Street, NW, near the corner of 22nd Street at 1.42am.

However, the press release does not specify whether the victims are themselves LGBTI.

A nearby surveillance camera captured two men who have been identified as suspects.

The MPD has asked anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text the MPD’s Text Tip Line at 50411.

Not the only attack

Just two minutes after the stabbings took place, a gay couple were attacked about a 30 minute walk away uptown, in U Street.

Braden Brecht suffered most of the attack, with boyfriend Karl Craven also getting mugged.

An MPD press release says Marcus Britt, 19, of Fort Washington, and two juvenile males at 1.44 am, ‘approached the victim’ on the 1000 block of U Street, NW, and ‘assaulted the victim.’

‘The suspects took the victim’s property then fled the scene,’ the press release specified.

The three teens arrested have been charged with robbery by force and violence.
