Trump Makes Insane Claim That Ivanka Created 14 Million Jobs (The Entire Economy Added 6 Million)

President Trump claimed on Tuesday that his daughter Ivanka Trump has personally created 14 million jobs during her time in Washington, despite the fact that total U.S. employment has only grown by roughly 6 million in the last three years.

Trump made the false claim while speaking to the Economic Club of New York.

“We launched the Pledge to America’s Workers,” Trump told the audience, “367 private sector partners are providing more than 14 million skills and career training opportunities for U.S. Workers.”

Trump then praised Ivanka for the fictitious job numbers.

“My daughter, Ivanka, that’s all she wants to talk about,” he said. “I say, ‘Ivanka, can we please talk something about.’ [Ivanka replies,] ‘No. I met with Wal-Mart.’”

“When she started this 2 1/2 years ago, her goal was 500,000 jobs,” Trump said, referring to the goal of a White House workforce policy advisory board co-chaired by Ivanka. “She’s now created 14 million jobs … 14 million from 500,000. Fourteen million and going up.”

Vox notes that “from Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential inauguration through the middle of last month, the American economy added a total of about 6 million jobs…To be clear, the economy isn’t in bad shape, even if Trump’s jobs record to date lags behind Obama. While GDP growth so far this year has been unspectacular and wages are stagnant, the unemployment rate is at a 50-year low. That means that people who want to find a job can, for the most part, find a job. But there isn’t a shred of evidence that Ivanka Trump has created a single one of them, much less tens of millions — aside perhaps from the 18 people who worked for her namesake fashion brand before she shut it down in July of last year.”

CNN disputed a similar claim in February when Trump credited Ivanka for creating “millions of jobs.”

“My daughter has created millions of jobs,” he said at the time. “I don’t know if anyone knows that, but she’s created millions of jobs.”

“It’s simply not true that Ivanka Trump has ‘created millions of jobs,’ as her father claimed,” CNN reported at the time.
