Woman Caught Falsely Reporting ‘An African-American Man Threatening My Life’ In Central Park

A video that was shared to social media on Monday shows a white woman in Central Park appearing to falsely accuse an “African-American man” of threatening her life, reports RawStory.

The incident, which reportedly occurred between an African American man and a white woman over the Memorial Day weekend, was captured on cell phone video and shared to Twitter by Melody Cooper, who identified herself as the sister of the man being wrongly accused in the video.

According to Cooper, her brother had politely asked the woman to put her dog back on a leash, as signs posted in the park require, and began filming once the woman began to lob false accusations at him.

“Please stop,” the woman demands. “Sir, I’m asking you to stop recording me.”

“Please don’t come close to me,” the man replies.

The woman threatens to call the police, adding, “I’m going to tell them there’s an African-American man threatening my life.”

“Please tell them whatever you like,” the man replies.

In the video, the woman backs up as she speaks to a 911 dispatcher.

“There’s a man, an African-American, he’s recording and threatening me and my dog,” the woman says. “There is an African-American man in Central Park. He is recording me and threatening myself and my dog.”

The woman could be heard raising her voice as she speaks with the dispatcher, acting as if she was in imminent danger.

“I am being threatened by a man in the bramble[SIC]!” she yells. “Please send the police immediately!”

“Oh, when Karens take a walk with their dogs off leash in the famous Bramble in NY’s Central Park, where it is clearly posted on signs that dogs MUST be leashed at all times, and someone like my brother (an avid birder) politely asks her to put her dog on the leash,” Cooper tweeted.

“He’s fine, thankfully,” the sister responded in a subsequent tweet updating Twitter users about her brother. “No I told him to be careful! As soon as she leashed the dog, he said thank you stopped filming and went about his business. This kind of entitlement dog walking happens weekly in the Ramble.”

The sister noted that her brother “started filming her because she refused to put her dog on a leash and he sensed she was going to go full on Karen. And she did.”

“Notice how her immediate response is to tell the cops an “African American” man is ‘threatening’ her. She weaponized her tears & knows that the fastest way for cops to respond is to put her virtual white hood on. Disgusting and a reminder of Emmett Till. Nothing has changed,” one Twitter user observed.

“In case you’re wondering if some people are willing to put the lives of others at risk by calling the cops on them, and lying about the threat. Imagine doing this KNOWING you are being recorded,” tweeted former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien.
