‘You Can’t Have Him As Your President’

At a campaign rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Saturday, Trump threatened to sign an executive order that would block his Democratic rival from being sworn in as president in the event Joe Biden wins in November.

During a nearly 90-minute rant to his supporters, Trump vowed to “fill” the Supreme Court vacancy created by the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and falsely accused former Vice President Joe Biden of injecting performance-enhancing drugs in his “ass” before campaign appearances.

Trump then threatened to throw a wrench into the presidential election results or outright cancel the election by banning Biden from running.

“We can joke, we can play games, we can have fun, you can’t have this guy as your president. You cant have-,” Trump told the crowd.

“Maybe I’ll sign an executive order: ‘You can’t have him as your president,’” Trump added as the crowd cheered.

Trump’s remarks were widely condemned online, with USAToday’s Michael J. Stern tweeting: “This is terrifyingly dangerous. The president is saying he’d like to sign an executive order stopping a free and fair election and preventing Biden from being president. ‘Fascist’ is no longer hyperbole when describing Trump.”

Fred Wellman, who served in the U.S. Army for 22-years and currently serves as a Senior Advisor for Veterans Affairs for the Lincoln Project, tweeted: “Loud cheers for the fascist idea of blocking his opponent from taking office! Hahahah…Trumpists love them some dictators! Nice job Fayetteville!”

“When Trump says something like this, it’s a trial balloon,” wrote one commenter. “He’s trying to gauge the reaction, so he can determine whether he can get away with it.”
