  1. Last Sunday Sergey Kondrashov was arrested in Saint Petersburg, Russia for
holding up a banner that read: “A dear family friend is lesbian. My wife
and I love and respect her … and her family is just as equal as ours.”

In just five days Sergey will go to court, where he could be fined and even
thrown in jail for 15 days for violating St. Petersburg’s new “gay
propaganda” law. With lawmakers in Russia’s federal legislature (the Duma)
looking to extend this “gay propaganda” law to the entire country – Sergey
is taking a stand. He is asking Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to
denounce the absurd anti-gay law that made him a criminal, and to do
everything in his power to stop this unconstitutional law from spreading
    nationwide.

Sergey doesn’t think of himself as an activist. He’s just someone who
thinks that all Russians – gay or straight – should be treated equal under
the law. If you believe that it should never be illegal to defend the
dignity of your friends and family who are gay, lesbian bi or trans –
please stand with Sergey, and sign this petition to the Russian Prime
    Minister. http://goo.gl/J3IpS

  2. Dude, we got your back. God bless–I hope things improve over there–we
support you and are signing petitions against this ridiculous law.

  3. It will be there, but it doesn’t mean that people will actually accept it.
the West is doomed already, its own politically correct bullshit is digging
its grave. Sober countries that are not infected by political correctness
like Russia will have a future.

  4. That has nothing to do with age. We have just different mentalities,
different concepts of values. But no one should force his ideology on other
people. Especially when these people belong to different nations and
cultures. I consider this to be fascism. All nations ought to be sovereign
and should have the right to self determination.

  5. …So I would rather like to live in an ‘intolerant and homophobic’ state
than in one that lets its’ own people die out! FREEDOM FOR EUROPE
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LONG LIVE RUSSIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. God bless you Sergey, you’re an example for all of us, in the best
tradition of the bravery of the Russian people and, unfortunately, quite
the opposite of those who have tried to silence you and all of us. We live
in decadent times when truths are hidden and lies and propaganda are sold
out (both figuratively and literally) as truths in a very, very sick
society we live now. True HUMANS like you are becoming the rarest thing.
Keep up the good fight there brother!

  7. What year is this, that such laws can be passed? Has Russia slipped back
into the Dark Ages? Do the Russian authorities see how ridiculous the are
in the eyes of the world?

  8. That is not true. In the Netherlands homosexuality has been accepted by the
majority of the Dutch people only since the sixties of the last century.
Sorry to tell you that you are completely misinformed. Homosexuality has
always been there and always will be, also in Russia.

  9. … Consequently, when Russias society considers ‘homosexual propaganda’,
like gay communities pushing ideological views among the youth (‘gay is
ok’), as harmful to minors, then it would offend against the (human-)
rights of parents to protect their children, when the government allowes
homosexuals to make ‘propaganda’ (in the neutral sense of this term).

  10. … mainly pushed by heterosexual people and not by gays. ‘Do children also
need protection from straights?’ Well, Homosexual propaganda is not the
only kind of agenda which is harmful. There is also harmful heterosexual
propaganda. The mass media is full of all kinds of sexual content that is
    harmful to minor persons.

  11. You stupid fuck. Homosexuality has always been accepted in the Netherlands
by the society. In Russia, that has never been the case, and never will.

  12. Why are you even talking about discrimination in that case??? I mean this
russian law the video is about. It’s not discriminatory at all. I absolutly
support this law because I think it’s senseful. I’m convicted that sexual
minorities should not be allowed to make sexual propaganda, in the sense of
advertisement of their lifestyle or certain views, among underaged persons.
And the motive of that law is certainly not hate against gays but the
protection of children and the society.

  13. Thankyou Sergey for standing up for the rights of LGBT community in St
    Petersburg

  14. You are a strong and brave man. Thank you. I would like to one day visit
Russia because some of my family comes from there, but being a lesbian
    makes that not an option.

  15. There are two simple ideas which I believe in: 1) Nobody has the right to
forbid me to consider another person equal to me or to express my
admiration for any law-abiding man or woman. And I have a right to express
such views openly and publicly, in presence of juveniles as well. 2) No
person shall have the right to ban gays and lesbians to conduct propaganda
in order to improve society’s attitude to them . I cannot compromise on
    these issues.

  16. I am a Canadian citizen. I support your fight for your friend, Sergey. You
a brave man. Please keep fighting for those who will be oppressed, because
of their sexual orientation! You are a hero to me :)…

  17. We will see. In the future we will know of Western Europe was right to
accept homosexuality as a normal variant, or that Eastern Europe (and
Russia) was right in not accepting it. Personally I think it is a matter of
age; older people tend to have a conservative attitude towards
homosexuality, while most of the younger people don’t have any problems
with it. Anyway, we will see. But your remark about the Netherlands was
    completely besides the truth.

  18. well done Sergey! thank you! …signed, with love, from another UK
    resident….. X

  19. … and russian society considers ‘homosexual propaganda’ as harmful to
minors. The big majority of russian population supports this law.

  20. a law that supports hate and discrimination is just disgusting… love and
    equality for all <3

  21. What is normal to you? Just because something doesn´t fit the majority, it
doesn´t mean it´s not normal. The left handed are a minority group and they
are considered to be normal. Some people are different and that doesn´t
make them wrong. Acknowledge the right for people to be free and who they
really are, even if not fitting into certain rules created by society,
cause the humanity is so diverse and rich.

  22. …and a view which ignores the biological and social meaning of sexuality,
totally equates sexual orientations and demands their equal treatment in
all areas of social life, is in my view harmful to a healthy and stable
society. Especially because of such ‘modern’ liberal ideas ‘tolerant and
democratic Germany’ and even whole Europe is about to perish. Native,
ethnical europeans are dieing out right now because of low birthrates,
mass-immigration and the multiculturalist ideology. …

  23. The laws in Russia are just. If you go around parading in public support of
gays you will be fined and jailed. No one is stopping you from your gay
sin. The public display of this sin will not be tolerated in Russia. I
think America should follow Russia, the world would be a better place

  24. “It will become the start of a new area, in which Russians will not accept
discrimination any londer and fight for freedom of speech […]” This are
the word of someone who considers his ideas of moral and values as the only
right. And everything else is inferior and unacceptable for him. Isn’T that
simply liberal fascism? Sovereignity and self determination of nations and
cultures is not less worth than personal freedoms.

  25. Please don’t forget that in Russian homophobic and sexist society, my
status as a straight man provide me protection from many troubles, even if
I am acting as a gay activist. If according to the law in violation of
which I was accused, a young gay or lesbian is detained in future, their
situation will be incomparably worse than mine. And you probably even will
not know about the suffering and humiliation through which they will pass.

  26. Congratulations Sergey, for being such a beautiful human being. Great
people are the ones who look after the minorities and who stand up for
justice, even against the odds at a certain time.

  27. … and should be treated equally with heterosexuality, it’s indeed
propaganda according to the definition of that term. I can explain to you
why I support this law. Heterosexuality fulfills a biological function,
which is reproduction. Every nation, every society needs it to ensure its’
existance. Without it there’s no life. Therefore it’s self-evident that
heterosexuality is perceived as something normal and homosexuality as a
    biological and social abnormity. …

  28. ‘Children must be protected […] not from the view that being gay is
okay.’ Well, that’s your opinion. But people can still have a different
opinion, can’t they? Or do you consider every other point of view as
inacceptable or criminal? What I simply can’t understand is the western
outrage about this law. I mean it doesn’t humiliate the dignity and honor
of homosexual people. It doesn’t humiliate anybody. Many people say here
that this law offends against the dignity of gays and …

  29. …I think that being extremist is possible not only for nationalism,
socialism or religion but for all ideological and political
movements/institiutions. So gay rights organizations and
liberal/libertarian groups can be extremist, totalitarian and facist as
well. It depends on which methods they use. When they try to force other
nations and cultures to accept their ideological concepts, financing their
cover organisations which infiltrate societies and push their agenda, then
    they are facist…

  30. You’re saying that if a nation does not accept the western concept of
human rights, there’s inevitably discrimination in its’ society. Is your
ideology the only solution to such problems? Are the traditions and values
of other nations and cultures inferior to the western, liberal ideology?

  31. The laws in Russia are UNjust. Why do they feel so threatened by gay
people? I do NOT understand. Like Sergey, I am straight; but I have friends
who are not…why, in this day and age, should anyone be treated in such an
unfair way? I am Canadian, and I support Sergey!!

  32. If you don’t want to write back, then let it be. 😀 Nobody forces you. But
for some reason you write very much and reply to nearly everybody who
speaks out in favour of this law. ‘What you are doing is […] provocing,
and hoping to get some reactions […]’ Not quite, but I noticed that here
are many propagandists who are pushing their ideological
(liberal/libertarian) agenda, trying to demonize for instance conservative
ideas, views and values, often with devious and dishonest methods. …
