1. Uganda’s Constitutional Court has overturned the country’s tough new
   anti-gay laws. The legislation had carried life sentences for homosexuals.
   It sparked widespread criticism and cost Uganda millions of dollars in
   western aid. The government says it will appeal against the court’s ruling.
