  5. Whoa that’s Hank! I like him 😛 and I also liked what he said. Why should
    it stop? Celebs coming out helps the rest of us feel less cut off from
    society. Yes, there’s some gays in the entertainment industry, but it’s a
    niche, it’s not like straight sports junkies watch that shit, or religious
    conservatives, in other words the ones that are usually antigay. When
    people like this basketball player come out, and it’s on the news,
    everybody gets the message that gays are just people and they’re
    everywhere.

  7. EEEeeeeeuuww!!! Gay people talking about gay .. stuf. Yuuuuck. And off
    course as heterosexual men we should be very upset about that (actually
    less men for the same number of women sounds like a preferable situation
    for the average heterosexual male??). But gay men in sports, that’s just
    impossible. Next thing you will be telling me that there are gay people in
    the army as well. Everyone knows gay men in the army is a bad thing (unless
    off course you consider some of the most notorious armies (Spartans) who
    were pushed by their officers to be gay as the commanders believed that
    you’d fight harder for a lover besides you or after he’d fallen). And the
    bible is so against gays (actually the bible doesn’t even mention
    homosexuality that much, although the punishment is indeed death, but then
    again that’s the punishment for nearly every sin).
    You start to wonder why people are so hatefull towards gay people?? Do they
    not have more usefull issues to waste their time on?? Or is it simply that
    we need another scapegoat?? Or maybe some people have issues with their own
    sexuality??

    I agree to the fact that it should not be neccasary to celebrate that
    another top athlete outs as being gay. But I fear I will not see the end of
    that need in my lifetime even though I hope so. What is so difficult about
    showing each other respect??

  8. I’m torn on gay pride. You are entitled to “pride” for NOW because there is
    still so much ignorance, hate, and prejudice. But should we be proud of
    things we can’t control, of the way we were born? Right now, gay pride is a
    sign of strength at the face of adversity. In the long run, though…it’s
    just as silly as national pride to me. Shouldn’t be proud of things you had
    no say in like it’s an accomplishment.

  10. why not just come out to your family, teammates and coaches in private, as
    long as those close to you love and accept you that’s all that matters, so
    why do an interview telling the world, nobody gives a fuck, just begging
    for attention with his pitiful 9 points per game average.

  19. The absurdity of publicly announcing your sexual preference doesn’t seem to
    ever kick in for gay people. This is supposed to be about gaining
    acceptance and understanding but the only people I ever hear talking about
    a gay man’s sexuality being an issue are gays or homophobes. Your average
    heterosexual doesn’t care and you aren’t changing any homophobes thinking
    so then we’re told “it’s for the children.” That’s another bs reason to
    keep making gay something that’s odd or weird if you don’t make it your
    existance. Announce you have brown eyes and I’d be more interested.
