Californian city to hold Straight Pride celebrating 'Western civilization'

If you think one Straight Pride in the US was more than enough, you might want to think again.

A march celebrating heterosexuality will take place in Boston next month, but it looks like it won’t be the only one in the country. A city in central California has just applied to hold its own Straight Pride event on 24 August.

According to a flyer for the event, this Straight Pride will also celebrate ‘western civilization’ and ‘babies: born and unborn’.

Straight Pride will also protect babies, especially those unborn

‘We’re promoting many different things: heterosexuality, masculinity, femininity, babies, born and especially unborn, the nuclear family of men, women and children — everything that made our country great,’ organizer Don Grundmann told the Los Angeles Times.

Grundmann is a chiropractor and herbalist with at least five unsuccessful US Senate runs under his belt.

He also describes himself as director of the National Straight Pride Coalition backing the event. The group is currently active only in California, but he said he hopes to inspire chapters and similar events in every state.

‘We’re looking to spread our message across the country, especially in time for the 2020 election cycle,’ he then added.

GSN has reached out to National Straight Pride Coalition for comment.

Modesto doesn’t share in the Straight Pride beliefs

The city of Modesto will decide whether the parade can go ahead based on logistic reasons. The views of the organizers didn’t seem to represent a particular concern for city spokesman Thomas Reeves.

‘Permits to host any event are granted based on operational feasibility, not based on values and certainly not based on any endorsement of beliefs,’ Reeves told the Los Angeles Times.

‘So although the city does not share in the beliefs of some groups that choose to hold their events here, we may not be able to deny a permit based on an organization’s values.’

Boston Straight Pride

Modesto Straight Pride will follow in the footsteps of Boston.

At the end of June, Boston city officials approved an application for a parade to take place in August. Ahead of the event, the group Super Happy Fun America recently insinuated they are gaining the support of ‘prospective corporate sponsors’.

In the blog post about it, they included the logos of several major corporations, Netflix and TripAdvisor included.

But the companies weren’t happy about it. And both sent SHFA fantastic, worth-reading cease and desist letters.

SHFA also came under fire for exploiting Brad Pitt’s name and image for their purposes.

The SHFA website was using the Inglorious Basterds star’s name and image without his consent.

The organization ‘on behalf of the straight community,’ called Pitt its mascot for the agenda.

‘Congratulations to Mr. Pitt for being the face of this important civil rights movement,’ its site reads.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Fight Club actor asked for his image to be removed. Openly gay alt-right pundit Milo Yiannopoulos has been the marshal for the event ever since.
