  1. It’s such a distressing and dangerous situation for Jamaica’s LGBT
community. So-called ‘Christian’ Jamaica is no where close to being
Christ-like. It’s a nation full of hate and ignorant bigotry.

  2. Another powerful piece, this time addressing the plight of an LGBT
    community in Kingston, Jamaica

  3. Why try to put your belief on another country? I don’t support the crime
committed against them but they know the law. They are free to have sex
with each other in their private space, just not in the open.
If human being is male let him act like one.If we are such an “homophobic
state” don’t you think they would have been killed already?
NOTE!! Gay on gay number is far great than straight on gay crime in Jamaica.
You international media really don’t know the culture and you guys keep on
    report at face value.
    Jamaica land I love.

  4. This is dark. When I first heard you could get arrested in Jamaica for
being gay I thought it was a silly law nobody took seriously. Turns out 85%
of the country is out to get you.

  5. Why are no one speaking of HIV that is ravaging Barbados, that is more
accepting of the practice. Jsmaica won’t go that way even if their methods
    are a bit harsh.

  6. With the exception of Russia, is it just me or are countries which appear
to be dominated by people of colour seem to be fulfilling the stereotype of
    being savages and uneducated? Wow……

  7. I’m Jamaican, and I find this so saddening. To see people who are just
attacked for being who they are! I think they are brave and I’m proud of
them for sticking up for who they are no matter how badly they are treated!
Seeing that young man crying at the end really upset me 🙁

  8. ‘Buggery = 10 years of hard labor” –Law introduced by The British.
Christianity Religion introduced by The British [through slavery, force and
persecution]. Anti-Homosexuals views and words all introduced by The
British through aforementioned Religion. If you’re going to address the
root of homophobia in Jamaica, don’t forget these important facts, among
    others. [short version]

  9. Why all this focus on Jamaica? It’s as though all of the other countries
have converted to full acceptance and Jamaica is the ONE country left that
is against it. This view of homosexuality is extends to ALL British common
wealth countries in the Caribbean…actually, forget the Caribbean. What
about the middle east?? Is everything Kosher over there?? No, it’s not so
please stop treating Jamaica like it’s the only country where homosexuality
is not tolerated to the extent of violence. I am not saying it’s right to
be violent toward gays or anyone for that matter. I am saying it’s wrong to
single out one country out of so very many.

  10. Great Britain wrote our laws. We inherited their ignorance passed down
threw their religions and education. Fix the source fix the problem.

  11. nice to see they never do stories on them robbing people…. but this is
    the media after all…

  12. Wow i didn’t know Jamaica is this unreal place to be……. WEED it’s all
over them and here they are judging this poor people, and one more thing
leave God out of this, when you hate someone u’re far away from christ.

  13. Horrifying and disgusting! To think people are being imprisoned, murdered,
and have their lives and livelyhoods destroyed just for existing. This is
why I campaign for federal equality for everyone AND education, the moment
we stagnate the theocrats of our world take advantage of our bigotries and
    our ignorance.

  14. im a str8 man, and it pain my heart to see this young men crying he need
help. its very very sad to see this happing in my country.

  15. All these Westerner supporting homosexuality, go away, hypocrisy at its
finest. You want people to vote democratically and when they do, if you
disagree with the vote you say it should be discarded.

In white Western countries there is little to no population growth. This is
part of a population control method used by Western governments and
corporate leaders. The same Western government push, freedom to have sex
(promiscuity) (explains why unwanted pregnancies and unstable families are
on the rise in these countries), homosexuality (they go above and beyond to
highlight gays, ask Obama calling gay NBA players and other celebrities for
coming out of the closet) (teaching people it is natural when no scientific
evidence has ever proved it to be in Humans), encouraging the use of
abortion, encouraging the use of pregnancy prevention (pills, condoms
ect.), encouraging other governments to legalise prostitution, encouraging
techniques that spread HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (go to
Uganda which for years was taking a sensible approach, they reduced their
HIV rate from 15% in 1990 to %6 in 2010, contrast to Swaziland who ignored
abstinence and went by the Western backed prevention based method and have
the worlds highest HIV rate) (encouraging homosexuality knowin that gay
males make up 66% of new HIV cases in the USA) (encouraging promiscuity
knowing that the most promiscuous group in America, blacks, I am black,
have a HIV rate that would be worse than 7 of the 15 countries the USA
targets for the worst HIV rates in the world). This is not to mention the
wars that the Westerner back in Africa and elsewhere, this disrupts daily
living, causes famine and kills millions. Most people who fight these war
don’t have access to clean water much less millions of dollars worth of
guns. And when Westerner can’t succeed in getting other people to fight
wars for them they do it themselves, how many people have NATO killed
trying to take back Eastern Ukraine, compared to 1 kill during the Russian
take over of the Crimea, how many people did the USA and illegal Western
backed mercenaries kill in Iraq and cost the country the little stability
Sadam Hussain provided (not saying he’s a good man, but definitely the
lesser of two evils compared to what the illegal Iraq war did to Iraqi
    citizens).

Not saying promiscuity, homosexuality, corruption or wars were not in
existence before Westerners but they weren’t as extreme as they are with
Western intervention. This goes beyond gays and gay rights. ItIt’s a
corrupt Western agenda, which overseas soaring HIV rates in South Africa,
the rise of extreme lawlessness in Lybia (now a failed state), slavery and
sweatshops in Vietnam, and the reduction in birth rates in there own
countries. Nothing they do or say is for the purpose they claim.

  16. I come from London, moved to Australia 4 years ago — I love my country’s
culture, humour, diversity, history but I don’t consider myself extremely
patriotic. I’m a libertarian and nationalism has never really been that
appealing to me — but when it comes to CHANNEL 4 —- Oh boy do I get
patriotic! There’s no other terrestrial channel like it — mark my words!!
You want the truth — warts ‘n’ all — you want a balanced report with no
propaganda, political swaying, unbiased summary — not to mention the most
fantastic films and comedy and series — a genuine care and empathy for
the world at large — whatever colour, race, creed, age or sexuality —-
this is where it’s at!!! I miss you Channel 4 — although how could I
possibly not catch up and pay that subscription!! Thanks for highlighting
the massive retrogressive, vile problem with these 84 countries!!! Dan Fry

  17. Jamaica is a beautiful country but your country has a serious bad
reputation when it comes to “Gays”! We hear the “batty boys” comments!
It’s funny how a country that is “tolerant” of the “Herb” isn’t tolerant on
    other social issues.

  18. Horrible that people think it’s OK to judge like they are GOD’s above
others…and question someones sexuallity. Those who judge have a
disorder.. they are sexobsessive psychopates. Who we sleep with ain’t
    anybodies bussiness!

  19. Firstly no country is actually a Christian country because Christianity
isn’t involved In politics. Its just the majority of the people there are
Christian. Being gay is against the Christian beliefs so they have every
right to express themselves just like your saying gay people do. As the
woman said its their choice to be gay but it’s to their disadvantage. I
don’t agree with what their doing and I think it’s immoral but at the end
of the day its their life but they know that it will be hard.

  20. concerned indeed for the forcibly evicted but the mere tokenism from
powerful LGBT advocates and agencies(some over 20 years old) is even more
disturbing, it is as if the least amongst us must be paraded as victims for
rights for everybody else …………. sad when there was a shelter up and
running but closed due to all kinds of dubious reasons including “rowdy
    behaviour” ………… hpmh

  21. Very painful to watch, we need to realize and understand we are all
people…. Doesn’t matter if you’re straight or you’re gay, everyone have
equal rights to this land but we allow status and money to blind us from
    that fact.

  22. I heard about this in Jamica many years ago…cannot believe it’s still
    going on. TheLisbonGirl

  23. Gays aren’t the problem. The dirty rapist, child molesters, pedophiles,
    nonces and women abusers.

  24. This is infuriating. Fucking bastards… interfering in other peoples
lives… the fucking nerve and arrogance of it. And, couldn’t Britain step
in somehow? All eyes seem to be focussed on Russia and Africa’s LGBT’s now,
but this is just as bad. Even more shocking when you see that in a
cnservative country like the US, there’s a change of attitude… same goes
for a lot of mid- and south-American countries, allowing same-sex marriga
or reg. partnership… Jamacia has a lot of catching up to do. I mean,
marriage is not the thing by which progress ought to be measured, but, a
change of attitude is always good.
