45 Comments on “Seniors Are Turning Against Republican Party”

  1. To whyami below, it’s the Repubs that tanked the economy, killed 1000’s in
a war that made no sense and is taking away freedom. Obama has done his
    best to fix things despitw

  2. And you don’t care about the next generation’s economy since you will be
    dead then.

  3. Ah, stupid. You see, socialism isn’t acceptable in the US like it is in
your diseased countries in Europe. We’re free market captialists and we’ll
stay that way because it means opportunity for those who work. The RIGHT
has been pulled center, not the other way around. The feel-good socialist
crap your countries spew from every orifice turns into communism over time,
which turns into government overreach and millions dead. Learn from history
or be added to the body count.

  4. The problem is the mentally ill GOP and their silly ideas. Example one said
this week that the earth isn’t round.

  5. The biological component of corporations consists of human beings,
including those who invest in them and those who work within their abstract
structures. It is not possible to separate the corporate charter from those
who created it, in the first place.

  6. Fundamentalism has a tendency to drive sane people away from ideas and
groups. You see the same thing among the religious.

  7. Maybe they’re finally realizing their social security will be bankrupted if
we continue dumping our money into illegitimate wars. Oh wait… democrats
    fund illegitimate wars too. nevermind.

  8. Before the generation of my parents took over the operations of those
corporations, the employees of and investors in those corporations knew
what nation they represented. Then, came the generation of my parents. They
elected Reagan who opened the floodgates to China. My father (and his ilk)
spouted off about what’s wrong with unions, passing urban myths as
information. “Never buy a car on a Monday.” “They purposely throw beer cans
in car doors to make them rattle,” and on and on. I was there.

  9. You will be a senior too someday, idiot. That’s not being selfish. Just the
opposite. The motivation behind republican/corporate politics is what is
selfish. You are just plain stupid.

  10. The GOP have done nothing to help seniors. It’s about time they woke up and
    realized that.

  11. No. Nixon was the light salad before a heavy meal. Carter was the meat and
potatoes, and Reagan was the creme brulee. Reagan is covered in the tar
that Jimmy Carter painted on the fence, the can of which was left behind by
Nixon, who left in a hurry on his way back to San Clemente. Please, don’t
    deflect the truth.

  12. I think for the 08 presidential election, over 50’s were the only group
that gave majority/plurality support to McCain over Obama. Despite the fact
republicans seem pretty determined to gut Medicaid, and social security.
Only thing they did was when Bush signed Social security drug benefits into
law…and I’m sure most republicans in congress opposed it.

  13. Your folks at were brainwashed by the republican party passing away and
made them live in the hearts forever is just a generation is making the
change is sick and tired of politicians and politicians in the seniors
nowadays know they are part of we the people and again way more intelligent
than our government probably with the Internet your today we can look under
all kinds of rocks. And politicians don’t do their job that we the people
that put in power, We the people stop voting for them.

  14. Direct democracy? You mean mob rule, where anything popular goes, and 51%
can take the rights of the 49%? You DO understand the rationale behind the
    electoral college, right?

  15. You hate curse and damn me? Don’t really believe in the damning and cursing
stuff. Hate me? That’s not going to help you much. Haha. Better spend your
time finding answers , not blame. I won’t be around much longer, have no
kids or family to worry about so I’m just not going to let it bother me
anymore. I tried to save the world when I was young. Fuck it. Good luck
    with the future.

  16. The sheer number of feuds within the Republican Party are hard to count, to
the extent that The Washington Examiner’s Byron York says it’s impossible
for the party to have a true civil war, since there aren’t two clear sides.
It’s more like sectarian violence, where it’s hard to keep track of the
shifting alliances. In March, The Atlantic Wire visually mapped the
dizzying number of Republican feuds, but in the four months since, and
whole slew of feuds later, we needed to a new map.

  17. You hear a lot of rightwing pundits banging on about Socialism in the US
and that the Democrats are “far left”, what a joke….the Democrats would
be considered a conservative party over here in the UK and Europe. The GOP
is so far to the right its dragged the Dems from the center.

  18. I think parties create too much antagonism and rivalry in politics, I
believe politicians should run on their name not their party.

  19. Whose the cast of characters behind the cast of characters in Washington?
Can this distortion of our liberties be happening?!?!

  20. David is too optimistic… what is more likely is the party keep moving
right until it falls of a cliff. Than the politicians just form a new party
or infest another existing one like the democrats or libertarians & claim
they have always been libertarians, moderate or what not. Pretending all
they did as republicans never happen.

  21. No surprise. With their constant attacking of insurance, SNAP, etc, which
quite a number of seniors and such are on, they’re essentially attacking
what few of their own people they have left.

  22. Republican pos still have black box voting to get their candidates into
    office.

  23. The GOP doesn’t have to worry about changing demographics as long as they
can successfully fix elections as they did in my home state of Florida in
2000. Democrat pundits claim that the Democrats would have retaken the
house in 2012 if the Republicans in Congress hadn’t successfully
gerrymandered congressional districts. This misses the point. The
Republicans did successfully gerrymandered congressional districts, load
the Supreme Court with right wingers pushing GOP policy, suppress voting
    etc.

  24. Obama is NOT going to get rid Obamacare. Obamacare is a windfall for big
pharma. Don’t you think big pharma paid Obama handsomely for that one?

  25. Only a small portion of the population is part of the corporate machine.
You are blaming the whole generation. And those corporations were in
existence before wwII and baby boomers.

  26. not surprised, just wait till my generation gets to that age. if the gop
dont change there party will be the minority, thats if there still alive as
    a party.
