36 Comments on “Should You Be Fired For Not Supporting Gay Rights? – The GameOverGreggy Show Ep. 19 (Pt. 4)”

  1. Agree with point made by Colin and Nick, the Ceo was forced to resign
because his views were seen as different, he donated to a cause he believed
in. To have you job be called in to question because of your beliefs is
somewhat catch-22. Many seem to not realise he did this in 2008, Ok Cupid’s
Ceo did something quite similar, he donated to someone against gay marriage
    etc.

  2. Oh, and being religious is no defense of bigotry. You got your own mind to
analyze and decide what’s logically acceptable, and if you use that mind to
decide that you can systematically oppress someone you’re a fucking bigot,
I don’t care what religion you’re part of.

  3. This made me really respect Nick. Colin was being aggressive and Nick
wouldn’t back down and voiced his opinion, while the others were silent

  4. I understand what Colin is saying about being careful with destroying
ordinary people simply because they have a different political ideology
than you, as one day YOU could then be put in this situation where you are
forced out of your job or whatever for holding an unpopular political
    ideology.

However, here is my problem. When people are able to make donations to a
particular movement that wants to instate some form of government (in this
case, making gay marriage illegal), you have to destroy them as they are
having an unfairly greater influence on the way we are governed than
somebody with less money. Since we can’t afford to donate money towards a
cause when this CEO can (or at least as much as he can), the only thing we
have left to do is try and limit his ability to influence government more
than us, and that is exactly what has happened here by showing his company
in a bad light and forcing him to step down, thereby restricting his income
and consequently his ability to disproportionately influence the way we are
    governed.

In my opinion this is perfectly fine. If he wants to spend his money on
something he believes that is fine. If he is going to donate towards
something that is going to actually affect other people’s lives in the form
of government, then we should totally be allowed to go after his job.

  5. Firing someone for not supporting gay rights is just as bad as firing
someone who does. This is the problem with our society we want equal
rights for everyone, but when someone speaks their view that is different
than the popular opinion then that person’s view somehow no longer matters.
You can’t have it both ways. Either everyone has the right to their
beliefs without persecution or no one does. I am not saying that I defend
anyone persons view that I may disagree with, but I defend their right to
    have that view.

  6. We live in a society where a black teen male was sent to prison on a charge
of statutory rape because of bigotry. He was with his white all four years
in high school. But he was 6 months older than his white girl girlfriend.
So when he turned 18 he was charged with rape since she was 17 by her
    parents.

    This stuff happens in america.

We can scream tolerance all we want but when people are still getting hung
from nooses whether its literally or figuratively we are far from it.

  7. I’m totally in line w/ Colin’s philosophy in this matter. You should not
be fired based upon your support for or against any propositions. We live
in a Democracy (Ok Colin, we’re technically a Republic) and we should have
the right to have and support our own opinions, whether it is over Gay
Marriage, Abortion, etc. These are extremely polarizing issues and not
everyone is going to agree, ever. And it’s not so simple as lump summing
these opinions as bigotry, or anti-social.

There are people that are for Gay Rights but not Gay Marriage. People who
believe that Gay individuals should have all the rights as Straight
individuals, but that Marriage is a holy sanction between man and woman.
And instead believe that the civil union laws should be updated to a point
of making it the equivalence of marriage. Things such as Death Benefits,
Power of Attorney during medical emergencies, Property/Inheriting rights
    upon death.

  8. Thanks for reminding me about Undertaker v. Brock Lesnar. What a sad day
    that was.

  9. Thanks guys! This was an awesome topic for discussion and I enjoyed every
single moment of it. I hope you guys come up with another topic like this
    one soon. :)

  10. wow I really liked the Colin and Nick debate. For once Nick was serious
about a topic and made me question Colin’s stance on it. Good one guys!

  11. Colin is the worst libertarian I’ve ever encountered. For all his talk
about how great free markets are (which I agree with), he still pisses and
moans when the free market acts against his personal preferences.

  12. The thing about the segregation movement compared to gays… Lack of
    segregation is biblical
People who want to have sex with the same gender is not now us Christians
should still treat gays as people and as equals
I can disagree with sin but still love the person

  13. I love you guys. I love this show because you can tell you guys are genuine
    friends.

  14. How can you not be a bigot and be against equal rights for the LGBT
community. That’s like saying I’m not racist I’m just a Nazi.

  15. good debate both sides- good job nick, i like the intelligent argument.
    refreshing.

  16. It’s frustrating to me that so many people, in the comment section, still
do not understand what point Colin was trying to get across. He is getting
misquoted, and accused of saying things he did not say over and over. It’s
    kind of depressing.

  17. On a side note as a viewer it feels kind of like 3 of the 4 people on this
show bring up a subject and bat it around, when Colin brings up a subject
it sometimes feels like its to simply get his own feeling over and go “I
don’t think your right”. I’d be curious to see how much of each persons
topic is dominated by each person. (ie how long does Tim talk about his own
topic) Regardless thank you for the content.

  18. You really should stop respecting people using religion as a justification
for bigotry. It’s an excuse to view ENTIRE GROUPS of people as lesser
humans in the eyes of society and the law. That’s not an ok “opinion” to
have no matter what group of innocent people we’re talking about. People
fear what they do not understand, and people who subscribe to a religion
are willfully choosing to not understand a whoooole lot of shit.

  19. Living in Utah where basically everyone is against gay marriage, this
conversation would make them all die. In government class when the teacher
brings up gay marriage, everyone smirks like gay marriage should never
happen and is an abomination. It’s disgusting.

  20. This is not about tolerance or intolerance. It’s not that hard Colin.

This is about people that are pro-discrimination and legal power against
one group of people, against the vast majority of everyone who believes in
    equality.

You do have the right to have an opinion and voice it. You do NOT have the
right to avoid everyone thinking you’re a dickhead if you are against
    equality.

Colin is spitting out non-sequiturs this whole conversation.

  21. Its finally happened. You’ve blown this show up. that was interesting to
    watch.
Nick schooled Colin… and what people don’t see is that Greg orchestrated
it all by challenging them. Good work Greg!
