Here in the UK, having fought to humanise our British sex laws in the 1970s and 1980s (especially during the Time-of-AIDS!), I have been privileged to share life with a wonderful male partner; and I love him more than I did in 1983, when pure 'sexual attraction' brought us together. Too many people – particularly in the Church – only think of biology and ugly words when they discuss sex. A Christian myself, I was privileged to know the late MONICA FURLONG; and her little book, 'CHRISTIAN UNCERTAINTIES' (dated though it is!) provides a superb guide to the non-judgmental Christian life. As for 'gay weddings' and 'Civil Partnerships', who wants to provide money for 'The Weddings Industry', or accept the crumbs from the table of corrupt politicians. FIRST let them get right what they mean by heterosexual 'marriage' (NOT the same as a 'wedding'!) BEFORE they offer us anything!

One of my best high school buddies came out in his valedictorian speech. We all already knew but we felt it empowered him with the courage to meet the wider world we were all about to encounter, so we cheered him on. It was wonderful to see his joy and that of our fellow students and the parents present. Homophobia is a weakness. A sad, terrible weakness that robs people of amazing friendships.
I lost my attention the moment he juxtaposed "islamophobia" and anti-homo marriage stance.
When it comes to social issues like race and sexual orientation the reaction from both sides makes my head hurt. Because my view on both is based on science and history. So I bypass the issue completely. Race is nothing but how our ancestors body adapted to the living conditions and climes of the earth as we moved out of Africa. History has proven that people have been gay since the day of human time. Also science has proven that yes some people are born gay. So why are we over complicating the issue or refusing to accept facts? All of us are human before we are anything else. Why add another over complication on top of all of the others by butting something a head of this fact. Also the quickest way to turn both into a issue with me is expecting me to care or expecting me to treat you differently. Because I live by the saying treat people the way you want to be treated. I do not aspect to be treated differently or better than anyone. I also refuse to sympathy when offered. Because as bad as my current situation might be there is many people out there who are in a worse situation than I. So instead of showing me sympathy, you should be showing them sympathy. Also, many of those who want sympathy are not as worse off as they think they are. Because as bad as your situation might be, it could always be worse.
