  1. Separation between Church and State was not established to protect the Church from the State; it was there to protect the State from the inane, archaic rules of the Church.

  2. I am gay….and I believe that we have no business in changing the church's rules. I would just do a civil partnership with a ceremony, you can't make the church believe in something they don't and it is wrong to force them to. Much like how its wrong for the church to try and change gays. I know some gay people want to be married because they are Christian and that's fine but everyone else….Why do we care? I know even atheists get married but why try and force people Isn't that immoral?

  3. Peas and carrots, sir. I'm NC, voted, not saying which side. This post should verify that. bozo clown is just that – a joke. Don't dignify these morons with a response. The south lost in the 1800's. The south-east is winning in 2013.

  4. Marriage is not a religous thing. It wasn't even popular to get married in church untill the the mid 1500s.
Please do some research on the history of marriage before making such tupid claims.

  5. "But calling it "marriage" is obviously not cool with the religious."
Only because they are ignorant about the history about marriage. They claim it's theirs while it clearly isn't.

  6. Can't it be both? The State also can't stop people from worshiping as they choose (so long as that worship doesn't infringe on the rights of others). I get what you were trying to say but the first part was absolutely wrong.

  7. this was already state law. it was an election year so the politician's wanted the votes and said hey let's make it a constitutional amendment. same thing is napping now with hb2

  8. The idea of choosing a sexual attraction is stupid as it kind of indicates that other attractions, repulsions or emotions are a choice.

  9. Have you ever heard an upper class southern man? Watch 1776, these are the stereotypical non-flamboyant gay men! They are afraid! These men don't want to be lumped into the NYC Greenwich Village boho gay set, they are so threatened. They want the veneer of heterosexuality; hunting and erudition, smoking cigars and xtianity, a life devoid of women save for their mothers.
