  1. I liked the intro to Same Love. It wasn't saying "no homo"; it was calling attention to how young we are socialized to understand gayness as a box that we must avoid appearing to fit in. I think if a straight person is going to talk about gender spectrum rights, they should be upfront about their own history with homophobia. That's all I thought Mack was doing. I mean I had a similar experience telling my mom I was a lesbian; except I actually did like women and my mom's reaction was "So?". I'm not offended by the intro story because the subtext, to me, is that if his mom actually thought her son was gay she still would have told him everything was fine. She was telling her son that if he stopped panicking about who he might be he would have a clearer understanding of who he is. It was about how stereotypes muddle the meaning of an identity, and that harms the gay kid that thinks coming out means giving up Little League as much as it does the straight kid that thinks he can't like painting.

  2. I don't wanna get into this too much but I think simply repeating that YOU are not gay doesn't at all undermine your message of "all love is equal" because in the real world it isn't, which is why he made the song in the first place. In that real world, he positions himself as a defender of gay rights that -here it comes – IS NOT GAY HIMSELF. I think he's trying to emphasize that he isn't gay to empower his message, not to take away from it.
If I argue for blacks although following Steve bannon i should fear them being white myself, my whiteness doesn't make me less of their advocate, it makes my testimony carry MORE weight!

  3. This was one of the first huge mainstream songs to speak up in favor of the LGBTQA community, so my question is why take shots at someone who was trying to be an advocate as opposed to another rapper who would gladly bring the community down a peg if given the chance?

  4. What I did today: Still missed @drmistercody, @Carmesancheeses, @DOB_INC, @JFSargent & everyone else purged from Cracked (+, of course, @SWAIM_CORP @Soren_Ltd , @katystoll ,
@kawillert & @jack_obrien), & wondered how Scripps stock is doing in this volatile 1Q2018 since hugely cutailing their investments in great writing/editing & production, & their resulting "goodwill write-down" (the mist unintentionally hilarious understatements of 2017, but it was an unusually hyperbolic, ?? year). Though, unsurprisingly Cracked.com's analytics have taken a 25% dive since their Nov-17 peak…

Still wish Alex Schmidt, David Wong (@JohnDiesattheEn) & the rest of the shipwrecked crew the very best… The Cracked Podcast is unique in its eccentric meadering among All the Topics You Never Knew You Were Dying to Dive Into (still eagerly awaiting the mercilessly teased "Manatees vs. Elephants: The Rise of Environmental Epigenetics" episode, @AlexSchmidty…

  5. This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life. And it’s so true when you break down the lyrics. The lady protesteth too much!

  6. Slightly surprised at the number of dislikes. This is one of the best things cracked has done that I can remember. I wish cracked was still the bullshit caller on stuff like this instead how theyre conducting themselves now

  7. This shows me how low we’ve set the bar on understanding that we’re all literally the same…to think that a song with these BULLSHIT lyrics would become almost an lgbt anthem smh
