  18. It should not be surprising that progressive reform is not happening in the Catholic Church. This is the same place that placed Galileo under house arrest for the remainder of his life in 1633 because he was writing publications that showed that it was actually the Earth that revolved around the Sun, and not the other way around as they had been teaching, and they did not acknowledge that he had been right all along until 1992. That's 359 years.

  27. Maybe it's a veiled stab at the Pope* (I mean I don't really believe it is but….), it makes me smile to think that people are going round intentionally misinterpreting the Pope and publishing flagrantly false statements about his views. Leaving him really very confused and frustrated.

    Where the devil have you been old chap? Hope you're well. I'm sure the comment section is full of it but this was reminiscent of the LatumWay days, it was fucking good to see. I'm not going to say I missed you, that would be disingenuous, but holy shit this brought back fond memories of a time when the internet seemed a more open, wild west kind of place.

  29. So I agree with you, but also, gay people with homophobic catholic families might be able to use this to get their families to be a little more accepting. Even if it's not true, they can still say 'but the pope supports me' and hope their family doesn't do too much digging into it. It could make a difference.

  33. Heterosexual union is holy and is the only form of relationship ordained by the creator of the universe. It is the lifeblood of furthering existing of human life on this planet. You don't have to believe in this God. You can make up your own God or deny God altogether. You can say I'm a homophobe. But let's get something straight: It's you that has a problem with my beliefs. You can do whatever you want to with your life… you can rally around "civil marriage" and advocate on your behalf within secular governments… Under this form of government, your opinion has just as much validity, if not more so than my own… but my belief supersedes your ideas of human organization and government. When you tread on the territory of how I view the world, it's your anti-Catholicism or your anti-Christian beliefs – NOT my homophobic beliefs. If you don't view the word marriage just as holy as the word "Eucharist" or "prayer", then we've come to an impasse. I love you and I wish you find the good life on your own terms. I hope you wish me the same.
