You Can Get Married In McDonald’s For Less Than $500

Big Macs, chicken nuggets, McFlurrys, the lingering smell of grease… What’s not to love about McDonald’s?

No, seriously. Everyone loved McDonald’s, but would you want to get hitched in one? Well, if the answer to that question is “yes!”, I have some good news for you. The fast-food chain has revealed that they are offering their very own wedding service. And, as you can imagine, it’s ridiculously cheap.

The average American wedding tends to set couples back around $30,000, which is a ridiculous amount of money if you ask me. McDonald’s, on the other hand? The fast-food chain is offering their wedding service, named “Happiness Party,” of course, at a very doable price of $381. This package offers 2-hour venue rental, basic audio equipment, and a party MC.

And, for only a little extra, you can upgrade to their deluxe “Love Forever Party,” which offers a 2-hour venue rental, 2 McDonald’s balloon wedding rings, a balloon bridal bouquet, and a party MC, for $1,271. Who wouldn’t want that?!

Decorations include a romantic roses balloon arch, a heart-shaped balloon set, and a “love” balloon table runner. And, depending on the package you go for, you can also get everything from McDonald’s branded wedding rings to tiered apple pie cake displays and customized invitations.

McDonald’s spokesperson, Jessica Lee, told CNBC that the idea for the packages started because the fast-food retailer occupies a special place in the hearts of many young couples… Whether they like to admit it or not.

“We started the program because many customers tell us that McDonald’s is where they first started dating,” Ms. Lee explained. “McDonald’s is where their love stories grew.”

And they don’t just stop at weddings. The fast-food giant also caters for engagement, anniversary, and bridal shower parties.

There’s one little catch, however…

The budget wedding services are only available in Hong Kong… For now. Launched in 2011, McDonald’s wedding parties were initially available from just three locations in central Hong Kong, but skyrocketing demand prompted an expansion to fifteen outlets.

Hong Kong remains the only city in the world wherein couples can host an official McDonald’s wedding reception.
