I coulda swore Jesus, as in the guy that put the CHRIST in CHRISTian,
taught love and tolerance for one’s fellow man regardless of sin and
whatnot. So really, that church in North Carolina is following REAL
christian teachings. Personally, I’m agnostic, and don’t believe Jesus was
the son of god or anything like that, but he was a pretty cool dude.
I believe in God, but I’m certainly not a Christian. Even when I was a
Christian (which was unavoidable considering that I was raised and am
currently living deep in the Bible belt) I never thought being gay was
wrong. People using God as an excuse to hate is nothing new. God loves
everyone no matter what they do. Homosexuals (and LGBT) wouldn’t exist
unless God wanted them here. That’s just my opinion though, speaking as a
proud bisexual.
If you are going to be a Christian and be for gay marriage, just be an
atheist. It doesnt make sense to pick and choose what you like from the
bible. That’s why I converted. Couldnt stand the incessant cognitive
dissonance.

Different denominations have different views on the bible. Like with
Christians, Most of the things in the old Testament aren’t followed. Mostly
because it came to the conclusion that most of the Jewish laws passed to
them didn’t apply to Gentiles which make up a majority of the denominations
now. It’s not so much as pick and choose it’s understanding of how it
applies.

the biggest idiot alive. Have you ever read the new testament? Jesus spent
a good part of his time correcting the Pharisees and Sadducees. The Jews
didn’t believe Christ was the Messiah, he told them that he was… Here we
see a clear distinction between Jesus and the Jews. Clearly he was a Jew by
birth, but he pointed out the errors of their religion at the time.. They
were a nation who had fell into apostasy.

Jesus was never a Christian. Jesus was born and died Jewish. Christianity
came AFTER he died. The there was no such thing as Christianity when the
Old Testament was written. Furthermore, around his death, the Muslims
liberated the Jews from the Romans. Above all, no matter what you believe
from Atheist to the Tao, people need to quit trying to say who is right or
who is better. That same thinking is parallel to prejudice, sexism and
racism.
