The great Isaac Asimov sketches the meaning of humanism. He presents the humanist view on abortion, evolution, secularism, gay rights and nuclear disarmament.
Issac Asimov: Brilliant Science Fiction writer, promoter of science and the
only non Texan who can get away with a string tie.

Substitute humanism for atheism…
How old is this. Great material if dated but the same debates are still
being had today although progress is being made.,
This guy is so cool. I had never heard of him, but I just read this book
called 3 Futures by Peter T. McQueeny, and he lists Asimov as a huge
influence on his Amazon profile. I really want to read the Foundation
books now!

Muchos hispanohablantes (incluyéndome) van a estar agradecidos.
Here we are 28 years later and the same arguments are being repeated. We
haven’t learned anything. No wonder robots decided humans needed guidance.
Came across this, what a blast (like Asimov’s jacket).
Interesting journey into the way-back machine (plus ’80’s hair)
…plus ça change…
I had a much longer comment composed and it was in danger of becoming a
full blown essay—something that I’m too lazy to write at the moment—so I’ll
just say this: I consider myself to be a humanist which encompasses atheism
and skepticism, but it also has ethical and moral components. I’ll let
Isaac Asimov explain what Humanism is, as he can do it much better than I
can.
Another good description of Humanism is contained within the Declaration of
Independence: WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are
created equal, that they are endowed by THEIR Creator with certain
unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of
Happiness
It certainly has changed a bit , your being dramatic.
What year were you born?
Not enough views.
Usual creationist response – ‘Well, atheism is a religion..’ No it’s not.
It’s about the pursuit of knowing what is true, and what is false.
Those chops…
Dr. Wolverine err Dr. Asimov! We need more of him to put the stake in the
Religious Right and their death throes.
Humanis RULES

You are awfully stupid if you think nothing has changed. Open your eyes and
stop being so negative and bitter about the world. It’s not that bad, and
it’s getting better all the time.
” I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something
about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is
purely destructive. We’ve created life in our own image.” – Stephen
Hawking.
What year?
The guy at 0:41 reminds me of willem dafoe. Also this is a must see for
all.
Daniel Tosh: “All men created equal… *wink wink* Oh, you know what I mean
guys!”
Here’s a classic video explaining what humanism is by one of its most
significant and influential members.

Abandoning religion doesn’t mean one has to subscribe to another flawed
ethical system such as Humanism…
